Do any of you suspension gurus think it is possible to move the clip on a 5100 from the .85 to 1.75 positions without removing the coilover from the truck? I was wondering if I loosened the center top shock nut and used the floor jack spring decompression technique, and left the control
arm bolt in if there would be enough room to move the spring out of the way to get at the clip and move it up one position. Has anyone done it this way?

yes ive heard of some doing that. If you do it correctly it will work, or you could accidentally kill/injure yourself or your helper

I've never heard of anyone getting killed by a Tacoma coliover while the shock is connected to the control arm. The top mount and the upper "A" arm would capture the spring should it go anywhere which it won't.

I am just wondering if I do this will there be room to get at the clip, with enough space to move it.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Have you tried it yet? I don't think it's possible. I don't think you'll have the room to move that clip. I also don't think it will droop as much as you will need it to.

I have not tried it yet. I think you are right about not enough room. Still hoping someone else has tried this. I might ask in the 2nd gen forum. Maybe someone there would have tried.
