Cut the rubber bushing then put vise grips on it. By the way do you wanna sell your indigo ink fenders?

or cut away the upper shock cover and hold rod with vise grips

IIRC you'll need a hex key on the top of new Bilstein to hold while tightning

oh that's the front shock ?

First do something about the spring.

Then use a grinder to cut the nut off the old shock.

Are you removing that to re-use the coils? I haven't swapped coils but suspect you'll need something holding those down if you remove that center bolt.

If that is the new shock all mangled up:
Put the CO on the truck.
Put the truck back on the ground (so it's full weight is on the spring).

Now try to tighten that more with vise grips.

Or just grab a welder and put some LocTite-MIG onto those threads so it never comes off and call it a day.

You may not have enough thread there now. From what I remember on my 5100's I had minimal thread.

re-assemble it without the spring and see if the threads are through the nut.

Also, ditch that used nylock and get a metal lock nut, use red locktite too

Impact gun. Easy off, easy on. No fuss. The proper tools for the job will save you alot of time and a butt load more headaches. I wouldn't run that shock unfortunately, I would deem it unusable...

I agree with the wouldn't run and unstable assessment. I just snapped a pick of mine to see how much thread is above the nut. I count 5 maybe 6 and I think you have 7.

Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
If something like this happens again, cut the nut pretty much all the way through then chisel it open/off.
