Need help. I'm at 40k and starting to think about replacing the original shocks. I don't need to yet, i'm just planning ahead. I think my leafs are fine even if they have sagged a little because of my cap/campershell. If i would replace them, i would replace the them with brand new TSB 2012+ leaf springs

I'm looking to have no lift, or just enough adjustment on the front to level the truck out.

Considering leaving my leaf springs alone and just replacing the rear shocks and front struts. I'm considering just doing the 4600s which would be easiest.

Also considering doing stock height 5100s for the rear and putting the adjustable 5100s on the front but i have many questions, should i use OEM coils with the 5100s or should i get some sort of other aftermarket coil?
Can you even buy brand new OEM coils without having to buy the whole pre assembled front struts?

What setting would i need to put the adjustable front 5100s at in order to level the truck out?

How do u have almost 7000 post and only 40k miles? Anyway i would say stock setting with stock coils would be level with a camper on the back which would be the bottom groove, unless ur gonna do something with the rear.

So I have a stock TRD off road prerunner. If I want to upgrade the shock to the 5100s do I need anything else?

U can only preload ur coils (progressive OR COILS) to the 1.75" notch so if u want more lift than that up front u will need new coils

Bought the truck a little over two years ago, with only 24k and almost all of my driving is city driving. I don't travel much in my truck.

I didn't start posting really heavy until about last fall.

But where would i get new stock coils without having to but a pair of struts, take them apart and sell the rest?

How many notches do the 5100s have?

I have 126k on my truck with no plans on a lift. Wonder if it would be better to just put new 4600s back on

You can get nearly new parts regularly on CL around here. Someone just had a full lift put on their 2013 and is selling all of the stock parts. I just picked up new leaf springs that way.

5100's are great mid level shocks. They are a fine upgrade to the stock and TRD Bilsteins. The adjustability of the front is an added welcome option. You can use them with stock springs, or with heavier weight aftermarket springs to increase weight capacity (plate bumper, winch, beer belly )

UCA: you get different answers because there are so many variables. Our stock adjustments only allow so much caster/camber adjustment. The truck is a sum of its parts. Exactly where the holes are, where parts are sitting when they are torqued, wear, trueness, length and bushing construction variances can add up. The stock parts align nicely in the constraints Toyota provided. Once you change things, you may, or may not get optimum alignment results within those constraints. Aftermarket UCA's broaden that spectrum so that your new combo can be optimized. The more aggressive your changes are, the more likely you need that flexibility.

You aren't being misinformed, just seeing the range of results possible. This isn't by any means only a Tacoma issue either. You will see similar conversations on other forums.

Lastly if you want answers and you don't think you can trust people here, then call an expert. Toytec , Wheelers, XpeditionReady, SOS, and many others don't just sell product online. They have shops and have installed thousands of lifts. Ranging from basic blocks, to high dollar long travel setups. No answer is right for everyone. My buddy has spacers and blocks. He is happy. I'm going with more than that. I'm happy (for now). Anyone who tries to put everyone in a box has been misdirected.

I found i can get a set of new oem coils from camel back toyota parts

In my opinion, the 4600s ride pretty shitty. I'm holding the 5100s high because i haven't tried them....
