    Why do some people install their Bilstein 5100 rear shocks upside down does this make any performance difference?

    My OEM billies were installed boot up,my 5100's are boot down (actually no boot at all) make no diff.;)

    If you do have a boot on them and it's on top, it has a chance of getting water trapped in there and causing some damage. Boot down, the water will drain out of the vent holes.

    People install them upside town?! Aren't they eye to stud?

    Not on 1st gens. Theirs have eyes on both ends so they work either way. 2nd gen are eye and stud so it'd be pretty difficult to install upside down.
