Ok guys, bit of a novice here, so please don’t judge.

I have a 21’ Sport, im fine with the ride, but I would like to upgrade this summer to a 5100 kit. I don’t necessarily want a lift, I just want the shocks. What would a good 5100 kit be? One from Bilstein? Would that give me any more height by adjusting my stock coils? Or even sticking with the current height of the Sport?

also, does the Sport higher than the SR5? Or is it just me?

Okay, you don't mind the ride and you don't need a lift. o_O

You're good to go as is, then! :D

The most significant reason most buy 5100's is to get the moderate amount of lift without changing the ride too significantly. I thinks it's been said the 5100's eliminate a bit of the nose dive that the OEM Bilsteins seem to have but don't stiffen it too much.

It's pretty inexpensive to do front and rear 5100's along with a 1" block in the rear to adjust and match your desired front lift. You can stick with your OEM coils.

    So....get'er done!

Appreciate the response! Do they make a kit that has the front and rear shocks with the blocks? I’ve only seen one with the add-a-leaf, that’s why I was confused. I’d be cool with a slight lift. I have a trailer to tow, so I don’t want anything to high. The hitachi shocks I have now arnt terrible, I just feel everything in the south Bronx.

Super. But later you say not?

    Why?

Well, that's who makes the 5100s

They can, but you said you didn't want that. They do have a 0 perch so it remains OE height.

From Toyota, only if it has taller tires.

The joy of a 'sport'. It's goal is firmer street handling. If you want cush on a budget, get some low mile OR take off shocks from someone going all fancy pants.

    When I said 5100s? Bilstein?
I mean but from Bilsteinliftkits directly? Or another site with a thrown together package including icon leaf springs?

Suggest you figure out how to define exactly what you are wanting to do.

Then write that down, along with how you use the truck 90% of the time, if you can do the labor yourself or if you have to pay a shop, then what your budget is. With that info folks can give you specific suggestions.

Right now you're bouncing around like a high wedge shot hitting a frozen pond in a cross wind.

    Me no want lift.

    me want better shock.

Current shock ride nice, but me hit pothole in NYC and head go boom.

Billstein 5100s seem to fill what I want, solid ride on road, and can handle light trails up to camp.

Have you looked at the 4600 series?
They keep stock height but are a much better than the stock shocks.
Don’t listen to anyone that says the OE TRD shocks are 4600, they are not.
