5100 series rear install

OME 883# on Tundra 5100's, OMD custom 3" leafsprings, rear shock relocation, Ivan Stewart TRD rims w/285/75/16's, '02 bumper MOD, Famous Fabrications sliders , LED interior/exterior lights, bed bar, Custom tube bumper, Old school KC day lighters,Red Ring 8" HID flood, Kenwood vhf 2M.. umm some other shit I'm forgetting right now
    I just installed 5100's (F4-BE5-D560-TO) on the rear about a week ago & I swear about 75% of my axle wrap has gone away or is very slight, has anyone else experienced this ? On a recent trip to the desert they performed flawlessly....

    These are the Bilstein's built to RCD specs.

    I've heard that same old debate on mounting them shock tube up & down, personally don't think it makes a difference ...

    i dont think it matters much, shit just tends to get on the piston. Did they come with boots?

    Most of the rear end pictures on this site have the boots on the top. That's how i have mine. Just like the OP said, that's the way the stock ones were.

    Back to square one after the 2001. So...
    x3 and x2.

    I looked forever to find some Bilstein documentation that would tell me the right way, because I didn't want a bunch of asswipes being dickheads about it. (Oh, and I also like to do thingsthe right way, duh.)

    I did find some Bilstein doc that said they were designed boot down, but they won't work any differently upside down. Further, without boots, the shafts are better protected the way you mounted them.

    Besides, you just do shit differently anyway, because you are you.

    Some shocks it doesn't matter. Some shocks it does. Some shocks have a little bit different valving for compression vs. rebound.

    I'm still running stock springs front & rear


    Yep, as you know I do things a little diff. They did come with boots on but I didn't care for the way they looked so I removed them & put away, I'm underneath my truck quite a bit doing visual inspect. after a day of trailing especially. Asswipes & Dickheads aside no one has addressed original question concerning axle wrap & rear shocks, most mine went away..

    Axle wrap, defined as the rotation induced by the application of torque, whether it be from acceleration or braking could be slightly affected by the lack of dampening seen in a worn out shock.

    A worn shock might allow the axle housing/brake assembly/leaf springs to rotate futher than a healthy shock doing its job. However, I would think the effect, either way, would be minimal. Spring force easily overcomes the dampening power of the shock.

    This is what I'm leaning towards also, I'm sure it'll return, I was just surprised that just changing the shocks would halt the axle wrap at all....
