Would just shocks now and coils later be a possibility?

    Mostly stock on 35s
Yeah you can run 5100's at stock height with stock coils, or preload the stock coils for lift.

And I just noticed you have a 1st gen so you probably wouldnt run 2885 coils I am not sure what 1st gens run.

How well would 5100’s with stock Bilsteins in the rear go?

Might do front now and rear in a few months.

I put 5100's up front set at 1.75"...It was slightly nose high.I put a 2" block in the rear and it had about a 1.5" rake. This set up rode fine.I now replaced the rear springs and removed the block because the driver's side spring cracked at the bushing.I put on Dakar medium duty springs from Head Strong Off Road.It has a 2" rake now(settled from 2.5")The ride is very smooth.

I’m running the billies on all 4 corners. I have the fronts set to 1.75 on stock coils and the ride is great for me! Although it didn’t level my truck (it’s about 2” lower in the front). To answer your first question, IMO it’s a great upgrade, and not a cheap “lesser” performing way to go. There are better ways to do it certainly, but if you’re running on a budget the bilsteins are great! I would definitely buy them again, but I would definitely buy coils with them off the bat.

to answer your second question, the stock 4600 shocks are pretty good, but it kind of depends on how many miles you have. Being you’ve got a ‘13 you’d probably be fine with the stock rears for a while! My truck had 165k when I replaced all of them, and all of the stock struts were pretty much shot! So it was pretty much necessary for me.

1/2" spacer up front will give you 1" lift. (Or so, I have heard)
