    I just ordered some 5100's from Downsouth. Ive been reading and i figured out that the back shocks are a breeze to change. My question regards the front shocks. Do I need to remove the stock coilover to replace the shock or can I simply slide the new shock in?

    You need to remove the coilover to change them out

    I would just takem off and bring them to a garage to get compressed. I heard to many horror stories. Unless you buy a real good spring compressor.

    i rented a spring compressor from autozone when i did mine, 50 bucks but they give you your money back when you bring it back to them. it looked like a POS but it did the job fine. just make sure its on there good :)

    Thanks for the replies. So I don't need the compressor to get the whole spring/shock deal out right. Just need it to get old shock out and new shock in...is this correct?

    the entire strut assembly comes out. but then you need a compressor so you can put the new shocks in.
