I ordered the Bilstein/OME/Devers package a few weeks ago. Marie handled all my dumb questions with grace. The package arrived in short order. Then the weather went to hell.....

So. I FINALLY got to install everything this past Friday. I'd have posted sooner, but I was too busy riding around with a giant smile on my face!

I removed a set of stock TRD OR shocks/coils with a 2" top plate spacer lift in the front and a 1" block in the rear. It was OK, and did the job for 84,000 miles, but, the stock shocks were starting to get a little harsh. Time for a change. While I was at it, the spacer lift went away.

New 5100's and OME 885X's in the front, New 5100's and a Devers 2" AAL in the rear. The lift increased (from spacer lift) by 1/2" in the front and 5/8" in the rear. (2-1/2" front and 1-3/4" rear from where it was "stock" before the spacer lift) I'm golden with that. The idea wasn't to raise it substantially, just improve the ride mostly. With that lift, the front end alignment was just about spot on without adjustment. And I'm still in the middle of adjustment range on the LCA cams. Plenty of room if I decide to add 1/2" spacers to get a full 3" of lift. (Which I may just be doing sometime)

Now. The ride. I travel a lot of concrete interstate. It's rough and speeds approach 75 or 80MPH at times. Enough to let you know just how smooth (or not) your suspension really is.....Took it on the road yesterday. I drove about 90 miles round trip. I can honestly say, it is now the smoothest riding 4wd I've ever been in! I'm stoked!

Yet to try 'em off the road, but I just cannot see where there would be any issues. Travel is compliant, absorbs hits well, and there's MORE travel in the front now that the spacer lift is history.

Thanks Marie! You now have a customer for life!

@Bluegrass Taco and @HeadStrong Off-Road - I can't figure out how to install the 1/4" driver's side spacer. Do I remove the three top hat nuts and then remove the 3 studs?
I can't reach the back nut with a socket because the fender well is in the way and it's torqued down really tight.
    Help!!!

Sorry for the late response, we close at 12 on Fridays. The top plate goes right on top of the mount. The nuts were screwed on the bolts rather than placed in a bag to ensure nothing comes up missing during shipment. So the nuts get screwed off, top hat goes on top, assembled struts get installed into place.

Thanks Marie. But all I ordered was the 1/4" spacer. No mount, studs or nuts were ordered.
That's not my dilemma. I can't get my 14mm socket and ratchet onto the 3rd nut that's closest to the engine because the darn fenderwell sheet metal is in the way. What's the best way to unscrew that nut? Calling all the peeps that I stalk... @Bluegrass Taco @Crom @CVYota @HolyHandGrenade @DoorDing ?

    Hey Lloyd,

I don't recall having that issue. But, looks like you'll need to find the correct combo of sockets, extensions, or wrenches, or bend some sheet metal.

It's the damn nut towards the engine. I think the nut is frozen to the stud. Darn thing hasn't been unbolted in 11 years.
PB Blaster and bending the sheet metal is the likely solution.

I use a Snap On combination wrench to turn those nuts. It seems to be just the right shape. The rear-most one is in an awkward spot, and is difficult to get to, but it can be reached through the wheel well.

Hey OP, what height did you set the front 5100 perch to? That sounds like the setup I'd like to go with soon. I've already added the 5100s, but still have stock springs in front and rear. Right now, the front is on the 0.85" grove (2nd one from bottom). I'm happy with the front, but the back sucks with the wimpy Toyota springs, which are under recall.

I left at noon so Robert was the one who responded to your and he wasn't familiar with your specific order so he was just showing where the top plate goes assuming we did the strut assembly.

Were you able to get the nut off. It really is in an awkward position.

I haven't tried today. Been spraying it every few hours with PB Blaster. Hopefully, the thing will come off tomorrow.

Good Luck. I hate when somewhat easy things turn into huge projects!
