Hey man i see that you are in baltimore, where did you get your tsb performed? I am in the process now but it seems like they are trying to run me through hoops, even after having my truck for 2 days.

I had no trouble at Bill Kidd's toyota in Timonium. They didn't ask any questions or give me a hard time. Give them a try.

Quick question for all the people that have the front 5100's installed. Was an alignment necessary after the lift?

Yes, mine was badly in need of an alignment.

    Ditto. Needed an alignment bad.

I got the Toytec Ultimate Lift which includes the 5100s for the rear along with a 1.5" AAL. I got this after the TSB was performed.

I have been studing these photos for a couple of days... I ordered the 5100s all the way around. They will be here on Friday. I am scheduled to drop my 08 off at the dealer on Tuesday where they will install the TSB AND install the new shocks for me... they will then do a wheel alignment which is included with the TSB. I have been debating back and forth on whether to tell them to set the 5100s at 1.75 or 2.5. I will have to run the stock 265/70/16s until they wear out... then I plan on going with 265/75/16s al on stock TRD rims. I love the look of the 285s but not sure I want the bad fuel mileage that goes with them... I have a Prerunner so its not like I am doing heavey wheeling anyway... I have a lifted 76 Bronco for that. The 285s will rub on stock wheels anyway right?

Anyway... I am still not sure which way to go... I want the truck to set level... not front high so I am worried about the 2.5 setting... I dont mind adding an AAL to the rear if needed but I also dont want the tires to look small if I go to high.... even with the 265/75s....

Any thoughts? Anyone have this exact setup? I cant seem to find one on here exacly like that...

Also... can the 5100s be adjusted AFTER the install? if so that would require another wheel alighment right?

You are only going to net about 3/4" of lift from the tsb spring so the 2.5" setting is going to be way too high and the 1.75" is also going to be a little high. You could go ahead and get the tsb and have the shocks set to 1.75" and then add a 1.5" aal I think that would look best...it will have some foward rake, but would look good. Or if you want to max it out set the shocks to 2.5", get the tsb done and install a 2" aal Here is mine: shocks set at 1.75" and a 1.5" aal (non tsb) so yours would be 3/4" higher in the rear since you are getting the tsb done.

The first pic is a little deceiving....it is more level than it looks.
Oh, and yes you have to take to shocks off to change the setting. By the way I have 265/70s now but will switch to 75s soon. I have no vibrations, wandering or other crap that the guys seem to have at 2.5" and the ride is fine. Hope this helps....I was torn when trying to decide on a setting also.

That helps a LOT... I want my truck to set like yours...

I am going to set them at 1.75 and if it looks front high I will ad the AALs... Wonder if I will need a new wheel alignment if I add the AALs later?

I am also trying to decide on tires... I have had teh BFG ATs a couple of times... Great tires but they pick up so many rocks they ruin the paint... They destroyed a great paint job on my 76 Bronco... but it has 35s that stick out fron the wheel wells a lot...

I am between BFGs, Toyos, Nittos and Mickey Thompsons...

    All in the 265/75/16 size....

The wife has an FJ... I would like to have her wheels <G>

    Thanks,

    Greg

I would set them at 1.75 and leave the rear alone, especially if you want to maintain a somewhat civilized ride.

You mean do not do th TSB?

I want the TSB because you cant haul anything but feathers without it bottoming out... I pull a trailer sometimes and I haul around several hundred pounds of equipment in the back almost all the time.

    Irishpilot,

How long is it supposed to take to get your 5100s in? What did you pay for em? I was gonna order mine today. I found them for $98.00 on shockwarehouse.com. I'm not sure if DSMS is cheaper, or if shockwarehouse is backordered.

BTW guys. I can't remember where I read it, so you can take this with a grain of salt. I've heard that the setting needed to level your truck varies from vehicle to vehicle. I've heard the stock rake between vehicles with the same exact stock set up can vary as much as 1". It appears by looking at a TON of photos, that this is correct. Just something to keep in mind.

I have BFG AT's and 83,000 miles on my truck and not a scratch or chip anywhere except for a couple of small chips on the front bumper which has nothing to do with the tires. Granted I have the mudflaps on and don't wheel it...I'm too old for that shit now and its too expensive. I love the BFG's, toyos are good, hate the damn nittos and like the look of the mickey's but don't have any experience with them. Oh, and the remark on this thread about leaving the rear alone if you want to keep a civilized ride...I don't get what he is talking about. The aal helped my wheel hop and I think it rides better and no you will not need another front end alignment if you add the aal down the road. You will need the alignment after you get your shocks installed...but you already know that.

    Just installed yesterday:

    5100 fronts
    5125 rears
    Toytec AAL for rear TSB

Last week I installed some Goodyear Duratrac 265/70/17 with some XD revolvers. I will get some pics today when I get a chance. I wanted to wash the truck but its going to rain tomorrow and heading to Tahoe so it would be pointless.

    Tacoplease...

How does it ride set at 2.5? I dont mind firm... I just dont want it to be like a rock and rattle my teeth....

Any wandering with it lifted like that? I drive a lot of interstate... I would hate to be fighting it all the time.

What size tires are you running o those stock rims?
