Looking at doing 5100's set at .85 with a 1" top spacer for a cheap decent riding 2"(approx) level. I have a set of low mileage sport springs to replace my worn base model 4x4 springs.

Anybody tried this? How does it ride?

I need shocks anyway. I live in canada and ome springs and all the cool guy stuff is thrice the price by the time it gets here.

you can do it. I did some measurements and with a 1/4in top plate spacer to correct for lean there was still ~ 1inch of shock up travel left when it was on the bump stop.

That stated you do realize that a 1inch top plate spacer = ~ 2in of lift on its own right?

No I didn't know that. So what about a 3/8" spacer should make about 1" up?

What what I have read setting them at 1.75 makes for a shitty ride.

    Not true.

Also how shitty of a ride do you think you'll get with .85 and a spacer?

Shouldn't be a lot different from stock should it? Not over preloading the spring. Not running into coil bind. Not going to be topping or bottoming out. What am I missing?
