Installed the toytech 1.5" AAL on the sucky 3 leaf pack today and got 1.75" of lift. Now the rear sits 3.5" higher than the front. I am having bilstein 5100s installed in a couple of days and was going to have them set at 1.75" but now think I should set them to the max 2.5" to level out with the rear. I am concerned about alignment issues at 2.5" however with stock uca's. How many of you guys are running the 5100s at 2.5" and still using stock uca's? Were you able to get the front end aligned properly? Anyone started out at 2.5" and went down to 1.75"? For what reason? Thanks guys, I just want to get it right the first time since you have to compress the springs to change the setting.

set them at 2.5" for sure. get it aligned and see if they get it back to specs. if they can't then you know you need aftermarket uca's

Well, I am trying to avoid aftermarket uca's for the time being. You know.....christmas gifts, salary cuts, wifes 2010 volvo payment!, etc.....

i had no problem with the 5100's at 2.5" and stock UCA's..had alignment done right after the install and all numbers were still correct..except for toe on the passenger side, but i know what curb job caused that lol.

been running the bils at 2.5" and OEM UCAs for nearly two years now. alignment is nearly spot on. OEM 245 tires have some outer wear and cupping, but it isnt really that bad.

i vote for 2.5" in front.

Let us know what you do and how the alignment works out...

I have new leaf packs coming in a week and am expecting to go 2.5 with the billys in the front...

I was not expecting alignment issues but now that you mention it I am concerned... I drive highway 98% of the time so I want quality ride and minimal maintenance but I do like the lifted look... I am not interested in new UCA so I may need to go lower

    Keep us updated...

I'm 2.5 stock uca's but am going with aftermarket uca's just to take alignment issues out of the mix. It may be borderline aligned but am going to eliminate any excuses for it not to be aligned perfectly.

You can definitely get an alignment to where you tires don't wear.
It's mostly just a tracking issue.
The owners got the Ultimate kit, a full 3 inches in front of his 09 Taco with stock UCA's.

Most of you seem to be refering to 2nd generation trucks... what about 1st gen trucks such as mine...

Can I get the proper alignment with the full 2.5" that the Billys give without new UCA's...

would I be better to go with 1.75 or does it really matter...

    Also, what is tracking?

    Thanks.

Tracking is when caster is off and it wanders or tracks grooves on uneven surfaces. Twitchy is a good descriptor. Yeah, tires won't wear but drives like shit at frwy speed following all the seams.

I own a 01 Tacoma with our Ultimate Kit on it, and we got mine without trouble.

The lower you go, yes, the 'better' it will be for alignment, etc. My tracking is not horrible, but I am at the FULL 3 inches up front.

Still expensive, but I think you can get LR for around 450.00 Anyway my truck is at the shop right now. I decided to go with 1.75 setting and I have the 1.5 aal (non tsb) May go up to 2.5 later

Yeah, I had no problem getting it aligned. Just make sure you take it to a shop thats done work on lifted 4x4's and they should get it back into specs

I installed a 1.5" AAL 3 days ago and then had the 5100s set at 1.75" installed today. The truck looks good. Only thing is that it is pretty dead level and I am afraid the AAL may settle some leaving me nose high. I would recomment getting the 2.0" AAL if you don't have tsb springs If I had it to do over again I would have gotten the 2.0" I did have some vibrations when I picked up the truck from the alignment shop but they have mysteriously went away. Not sure if things just settled in or what but it seems fine now. No tracking or wondering either. I will let you know if any vibs come back. I really like the look and can see myself going a little higher in the future. I plan on installing 265/75 mud terrains in a couple of months.

WRONG!!!. You will have a slight bit of positive camber. When you make a turn the outter tire will gain even more positive camber, hence causing most of the tire out edge wearing and tire cupping.
With that being said I have about 16000 miles on my truck with about 2.3 inches of lift and it drives fine and my tires are looking fine still after the 10000 miles. I do rotate them though every 5000 - 7000 miles.
