    TW,

My 5100s are going on next week. It's a stock truck until then, however I put on 265/75/16s on the stock rims - which are within what the stock lift/suspension can allow. My off-roading is easy-to-moderate - seeking camping and fishing, but nothing too crazy. I have enjoyed the truck's performance at various OHV parks and in the Sierras.

Question to you, TW world. Since I don't "need" the lift to accommodate the tires, what is your setting recommendation for a balance of comfort and (any) increase to off-road performance?

    Thanks!
    Emerson

I have a similar set up to yourself. If you set them at the 1.1 inch setting your truck will be level with out having to do anything to the back. The truck rides much better as well!

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

Yup...1.1” third clip is exactly level on my truck. Good looks, no need for rear lift unless you tow.

Oh I should have clarified the 5100 shocks are going on as well. All four points! So 1.1" all around?

4th setting here, one inch block. Looks better imo. Love the stance, ride is smoother than my original spot ride, plus it looks awesome!IMG_20190101_121024134_HDR.jpg

I bought a set of 5100s when I bought my truck. Waited until the factory tires were gone before I installed them, so I just opted to replace the springs and install add a leaf at the same time. OME 885 Springs in the front and a set of $60 add a leafs for the back. Money well spent in my opinion. Really no negatives to report at all. Going to a larger E rated tire and lifting 2” cost me about .5mpg and the ride is improved on and off road.

5100 ‘s 4th clip up and single Deaver AAL with stock coils. Good ride on and offroad too. I tow and haul a lot of weight, so also added airshocks too:

I'm using the 5100s on the 4th perch, stock coils and a one inch block in the rear. I have about 2 3/4 in the front after tires and a little over an inch in the back. It rides great, in fact I have said this a few times it rides as well as my neighbors with the only difference is used OME coils. We cant tell any difference. Your fine on stock coils!

I plan to keep my coils stock per advice of the Bilstein rep who said these are made for the stock coils. Mechanic agreed...

Some people say they get too preloaded when using the 5100’s, which tend to make the front dive a bit at stops, but with mine I haven’t seen it. I do have Mobtown plates and occasionally mount a winch up front on my reciever hitch, but have not seen any issues with my OEM coils. It may be an issue with the added weight of a plate bumper, but mine are stock. I think you will be fine with stock coils. This was also recommended to me based in my budget by Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road. Call them for help on this, they have good deals too.

Have you even considered waiting and saving for OME
Have you considered holding off until you save for OME 885 and set the 5150 at 0 . Preloading the stock springs willjust makes the ride stiffer. I read great reviews here with that set up.

just so the noobs are aware (and so i'm not confused) since the factory front springs are left / right specific to counter the lean, do you leave both front struts on the 3rd perch or do the driver's on the 4th to counter the lean? My understanding is you only do the next up on the driver's if using after market springs.

Ride is subjective and based on quality and conditions that make you most prone to noticing, such as commuting on the 880 vs getting to be off-road a lot vs living in a region that invests in infrastructure.

From what I gleaned from most of the people I consulted (toytec, 4wp, bilstein rep, local shops), these 5100s are built to replace OEM struts and keep factory coils so as not to have aftermarket springs cause a blowout and void bilstein warranty.

This said, they’re not super expensive struts, but the labor would add up...

Appreciate all the feedback! I’m stoked!
