I was curious if it's true that 5100's start to leak quickly in colder weather?

Never heard this nonsense before. 2 years now and no leaks, and none on any other Tacoma's I have owned either.

Do you shrink up in cold weather?

    Maybe their gaskets do too?

    PS.

Where did you get this interesting info?

I asked a couple places local here in Anchorage and that's what was said. I assumed it was a sales pitch to push more expensive gear, but figured I would ask here before making any decisions.

I shrink up in 40 degree weather with a slight breeze. Now, relative to gaskets....I assume they aren't made of human tissue. If so....then I can assume the issue is the same. Info was obtained locally.

Fantastic, I do appreciate the input. I had initially wanted to run a complete OME setup, but I just don't do that much aggressive off-roading, I want a little more height and a tad larger tires, so the Bilstein/add-a-leaf setup seems to be a good option for me since they actually do hold up in the cold. Alaska isn't very easy on vehicles.

If they were to shrink up and leak then so would your stock Bilsteins. Ask these shops why Bilstein would make an upgraded shock to what you have to couldn’t take cold weather.

I haven’t noticed any problems with mine in the cold and it’s colder here than Anchorage.

Found this yesterday after a short highway drive. Only around 34 degrees though. Time to see how good their warranty is.
