Hey guys ( and gals ), I know I have asked a lot of questions before.

but now im at this point where I am ready to step into the "big boy" world with suspension and longevity of my Tacoma. the guys at 4wheelparts have told me that 265/70/17 is as big as im going to go without a 6' kit.

im looking to improve ride and either go slightly higher, or go high enough without dumping the 2grand I see for a 6' lift kit. im redoing a lot of other things with my Tacoma aswell so price is obviously always in mind.

I like the idea and things ive read about the 5100's, but wondering about the "lift". I currently have the spacer leveling kit and im more than okay with getting it taken off. just wondering ways to get it either the same size or bigger.

You need a lower offset rims and you can go slightly bigger with 285s

    Thanks,

Search around in the suspension threads etc, lots of info on them with pics also . I think they look sweet! Wish I could run a spindle lift on my rig cause I would if I could, but with 4x4 it's a no no.

    Thanks,

    Brett

6 foot lift? that's going to run you WAY more than 2 grand.

4wheelparts is on crack. There's plenty of guys on here running bigger than 265s on a 3" lift. It may require some trimming but you can fit 285s on a 3" lift.

I have 285/65r18 on 18x9 wheels with 3" of lift and no trimming (I haven't wheeled it hard though so I would probably rub if really flexed out). I did have to remove the front mudflaps and the little "splash flaps" or whatever they are on the front of the 2012+ Tacomas. For what it's worth, my wheels have 5" of backspacing and I think that helps the clearance significantly.

Well so far ive looked into spindle lifts, and i like what im learning and reading.

only issue now is i cant find prices, or anywhere that installs it. only 4wd place around me is 4wheelparts and apparently they dont carry it so they cant install it.

back on the search i suppose.

I believe matrax, camburg etc make spindles that you can buy and get a 4" lift for the front. I searched around a little and it looks like they are about $900-$1000 or around there. Kinda pricy for what you could get with a coil spring/ shock combo from toytec. Toytec also has a TW discount code you can use when you buy from them.
All this front suspension stuff is pretty basic, take a Saturday and a buddy and its no big deal to install.

    Thanks,

    Brett

So basically...spindles have zero difference...since they both cost around the same

Get the spindles from maxtrac for 460 shipped. And I will come down to franklin and help you with them. I am about to put a set on mine as well. Not hard to do. The biggest pita is the break lines

Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
Or you can do Bilstein 5100's for half that and have 2.5inches of lift up front. Not to mention improve your ride quality. My favorite mod i have done, and I easily clear 265/75/16's

I have 5100s as well all around with the fronts set to 2.5". Absolutely love them. Cheap and easy mod.

You can clear those tires with no lift in case you didn't know. I drove for months on the same size tire (265/70/17) before I got my lift.
