Not that hard to swap out just the strut when you do it this way.

Ok, so heres a general question, i just ordered my wheels and now looking for tires, i got these from Raceline, their 17x9 and im lifting my 16 tacoma with the bilstein 5100's. i was thinking about only going 2" higher since the 16's already come an inch highter than previous models...i really want the KO2 tires from BFG but the 285's are expensive and i was slightly worried about rubbing. i was thinking about using the 275x70x17, anyone think that would be a good fit/look? This is my first mid size truck i've gotten tire/rims for...so unsure how it will look, i've usually got 35" tires on my other full size trucks.

    That'd look great, IMO.

    Cool wheels.

damn, nevermind, i guess they're saying this wheel will require a 285 size tire due to it's width. Looks like my budget just went back up!

Im having a hard time reconnecting my lower ball joints. I can't get either of the 2 bolts close enough or lined up to start treading them . Any tips?

Hey Quis I'll admit it was a battle for me too , the solution is make sure the truck is lifted high enough for a jack to go under the knuckle and use a wood to assist this , you'll have to wiggle pry and force it to connect once you get close enough add one nut and tighten it up

Thanks, I was finally able to get it. It was probably the most frustrating part of the install. Thanks for this thread. It motivated me to do the work myself!

I did only because my swaybar made contact. I've read some do and some don't.

Thanks for the replies. Where are you picking these up at? Don't see anything listed at HS.

    better suspension....
A couple of questions....I have a 2017 TRD OR DCLB

I was originally planning to run 5100's up front at 0.85" with stock coils to get a small amount of front-end lift, but it seems like most folks here are using the OME coils instead. Will the stock coils not work?

At the rear end, I was going to install a Toytec AAL and leave the original TRD OR shocks on the truck. Again, most people seem to be switching to 5100's on the back end. Do I need to switch out my stock rear shocks?

    thanks everyone.

I would either go .85 and leave the rear stock or do 1.75 with the AAL. If you raise the rear a longer rear shock would be a good idea.
