I thought I heard it all..that I have NEVER heard. I'm not sure if anyone else here has, but it doesn't seem likely.

OP, not to toot my own horn, but others have backed up what I have told you. It sounds like they don't want to (potentially) deal with resolving this issue they caused you. Pull them apart, move the notch to the lowest setting and button everything back up.

I wasn't kidding when I said this was going to get interesting......To them it's right, so in theory I can't return...

I'll just go to my local shop and have them set it to the 0 notch so I can get this stuff installed Saturday.

    Appreciate the help TW Fam!

Just to add another comfirmation what everyone is telling you is the information I received from Wheeler's associate, Josh, when I got the 5100s, and was considering coils.

If you have OME (or any other aftermarket lift coils), the 5100s should be set to the bottom ring. The lifting rings on the 5100s are only meant to be using if you're sticking with the factory coils.

    Matt here chiming in
We are just now getting to our Alerts and saw this.

I would highly recommend taking them back down to the zero setting. With the running change OME made to these coils and with the shocks set at the 3rd notch, there is a major concern with coil bind here. On full compression the coil rings are going to be very close to touching and it they do the lower spring seat ring will fail and this will result in major damage. I'm actually floored a off-road shop would assemble them like this.

Now we have seen some slight changes with lift heights from the OME coils and I speculate a lot of the changes we are seeing are the result of the running change made to the 885, 887 and 888 coils. With new test data in addition to data received from our customers we are now indicating the 887 coils will provide 2.5" of lift (after settling) on a 2nd Gen double cab 4x4 V6 Auto. We also have a new chart we released vs. the one provided within this thread. The chart can be provided upon request and is no longer listed on our site.

What does HSO recommend for those who want 3" - 4" of lift?

you do not have to take off top hat if you can compress the spring enough to take out the lock ring and put it on lowest setting with a wall mounted spring compressor we have done it before to change settings.

I'm pretty sure 3" is the maximum lift you can get without requiring a drop bracket (which requires cutting the frame). I will let Headstrong Off-Road confirm this but pretty confident that is correct.

Yep you got it Dirk. It isn't recommended to go over the 3" mark with a suspension lift (coilovers).

Just to add to what others have said, the 887 is already giving you 3" of lift, which also means an extra 3" of shock extension, and the 5100 doesn't have any more travel to give, safely. That's why you're not supposed to go past the first notch.

I get to answer my own question!!! :bananadance:

This 1st gen OME coil information is available on HeadStrong's Old Man Emu Lift Coils - Varios Lift Heights Available (PAIR) shown below and at Wheeler's OffRoad web page where the information will be displayed in a popup window if you click your mouse on the --Front Coil Springs-- dropdown menu and then mouse over the different options also shown below.

I am glad i got the old 887s on my taco. I went off your chart to get a soft 2-2.25ish" of lift with some weight with 5100s and 887s

Hi I am new here. Got my eyes set on 5100's all around, with 887 coils. Running a 2011 dbl cab and wondering what kind of rear AAL I should get to attain level or slight rake (assuming the 887's will provide 2.5-2.75 front lift). Been looking at the 3- leaf progression pack from headstrong. Anyone know if I will need to retain my overload spring in the back to prevent a bro-lean? Any advice on this is greatly appreciated.

Get a new leaf pack and throw the Toyota leafs in the trash. They are best used there.

Your stock leafs are likely flat or negatively arched and adding anything to that will be temporary until the AAL or stock leaf breaks.

Reach out to @Tretiak30 and he will fix you up.

Thanks for the quick reply. Conveniently I am getting new leaf packs due to the recall. Didn't even know about the recall until I found it on the forums. In this case, does it change your thinking?
