Hmmm, sounds a little off. Are these top spacers or coil spacers? Our suspension is a 2:1 so a 1/2” top spacer = 1” lift.
I initially asked because I too have 5100/888 and mine has sagged 3/4”, down to 2” lift. I have medium Dakars in the rear and at 2.75” up front it’s nearly level to the eye. I will be installing 3/8” top hat spacers hoping to get back up to 2.75” lift up front.

Too spacers, and I know it’s off lol I asked around a bit and can’t seem to figure out why I didn’t get as much lift as I expected and thought I would, 888 shoulda gave me around 2.5 I thought.

No bumpers, just sliders, only thing I assume is DCLB 4x4 adds extra weight n stretches it out for additional sag.

I did try the 1” spacers on both sides with the 5100/888 and it felt and looked right except the cv angles were a tad more than I would of liked so removed those. Also with the 1” spacers I believe the spc lr ucas ball joint rubbed the coil on full droop.

I have 5100 set at 0, with 888 and got just under 2” of lift. A reputable installer in town suggest moving up one notch to get the desired lift

i understand the argument of binding, but the weight of the vehicle binds the strut more than any preload ever would.

Under the weight of the vehicle, the length of the coil never changes under any preload conditions. They are designed to be 405mm with 590lbs pressure, whether from weight alone (0 setting) or from preload and weight of vehicle. Its just pressure from both sides, preloading a coil compresses the spring...under weight the spring length remains constant and only ride height will be higher. Since spring length will be constant under weight, spring rate will also remain constant under weight , hence travel should not be affected either. Headstrong brought up an interesting point on max force, but if spring rate remains constant, max force would affect the spring the same under 0 setting or preload conditions?
Im using the same logic that allows stock coils to be preloaded

what is wrong with my reasoning, that common concensus is to leave it at 0?

Could I get a copy of this chart please.
I currently have 5100s on all 4 corners and stock coils set on the 3rd (1.75) setting with tsb pack and 1.5" torch offroad aal in the rear.
I want whatever coil will take me to 2.5" on the 0 setting.
I have 2wd access cab with no armor but I do have about 220lbs behind the passenger seat (sub, box, and battery) and probably 40-50lbs of dynamat throughout the interior panels.
I currently have stock 16s and 265/75/16 at3 4s but will be looking to upgrade to 285/70/17s once those wear out.
I'm under the impression that should put me with the 885s but I just wanted to make sure and will order a set from you guys.

888s are the longest coil but you may or may not get 2.5. Im just under 2

887/5100 setting is 0. w AAL. I have an honest 1” difference between front and rear. But I did get my 2.5” of lift. I’m torn. Sometimes I want to add a 1” spacer to the front but then I think about the CV angle exceeding the 2.5 threshold ( 2.5” is the sweet/safe spot for 3rd gen ). I like the level look which happens when I through stuff in the bed, but I hate the BRO look when the front is pitch even a hair higher in the front. I get compliments at the site daily on how the truck looks, even the stance so eh... 7E5B7453-4419-444D-B8F9-52D3B04D260A.jpg

Looks good to me. I wouldn't change anything. What size tires do you have?

Nice, I'm thinking about upping to that size when my 265/70r17 Wildpeaks wear out.

5100s with 885s on the lowest notch. 1/2” top plate spacer on the driver’s side, 1/4” top plate spacer on the passenger side. Icon three leaf progressive AAL on TSB Toyota leafs in the back. Hub to fender measurements:

    Stock:

    FL: 20”
    FR: 20.5”
    RL: 21.75”
    RR: 21.75”

    Current:

    FL: 23”
    FR: 23”
    RL: 23.75”
    RR: 23.75”

I got a full 3” of lift on the driver’s side and 2.5” on the passenger side with the 885s and the top plate spacers. The AAL gave me a full 2” in the back with the factory overload leaf left in the TSB Toyota leaf pack (4 leaf pack). The suspension has been on the truck for 3+ years now so these are the “older” 885s and it’s safe to say it’s settled. Tires are 285/70/17s.

Ok guys I have a 2019 tacoma trd and have the 5100s with the 2887 old man emu springs and it will give you 1.75 or 2.00 inches of lift that is it nothing more . So you will have to add spacers to get anything above that .

How well does the 887 hold up with 175 lbs of bumper/winch up front?

    Hello,

I would like to clear up so I can understand that I cannot change the notch on the 5100 with 887, correct?

it will cause damage if I try to lift it up to 2nd or 3rd notch w the 887?

Yes that is correct has to be on the 0 setting notch . You can add spacers to get added lift 887 will lift 2” the 888 will lift 2.5 and will support the added weight of bumpers and winch’s because of the increased spring rate.

    Ah bummer!

I love the way how the truck looks but it’s on skinny tires so maybe that’s why!
    Looking to get 275/70/17. I’m on 5100/887.
