It's always been understood that when running OME coils with non OME shocks, you run the spring seat at the lowest setting.

That is not a good guide at all. Second and third gen 5100 have their lower notch at exactly the same height. There is no way the lift will be affected by the shock you pick if the mounting height is the same. You might mount a coil on a steel rod with the same mounting height and you will have the same lift. Looking at the number for the 884 between the second and third gen shock installed on a third gen makes no sense at all. Just publishing that invalidate the whole chart.

    Hey y'all,

First time posting here, but have lurked for a long time. Thanks for all the useful info. I had the same issue as the OP:

I ordered from Wheelers Offroad and they set my 887s on the 3rd perch as well (on 5100s). Of course I was a dumb*ss and didn't double check whether it was set correctly when I started putting them on the truck and installing them, only realized when I lowered the truck to the ground.

Anyways, I emailed Wheelers to ask about it and responded saying it was the correct perch and with an 887 it would be a 2" lift if set on the lowest perch. This is on a 2nd gen access cab 4X4 BTW.

I just assumed that they would set the 887 on the lowest because I thought that was the norm not only for these but for all OME springs on 5100s. I guess I have to take it to a shop and get it compressed and dropped to the lower perch, just pretty annoyed about the extra time and hassle I'm having to go through, as well as the assembly fee they charged even though it was not assembled correctly (according to the collective tacomaworld mind).
