Can anyone with experience of the 5100s with OME888 coils provide some feedback on the ride?
Is it a harsh or stiff ride with this combo?

Did the combo provide a full 2.75” lift or slightly shorter?

Thought i would add to this, just installed 888 and 5100 set to 0. ride is not very good at slow speed, like you can feel every tread lug on the tire as it goes around. after about 40kph it settles down.
front height is at 38.5" ground to fender

I have the 2nd gen 5100's set on 0 with 888's and got the full 2.75 initially. After settling and adding the SSO bumper w/winch I still have about 2.5 over stock. Seems to ride fine IMO but that is subjective...

Good info. You’re the person I need to ask. I’ve got a similar setup with winch, slim bumper, stock coils with 5100s at 1.1” setting, but it settled back to stock height.

If I want 1” lift over stock height with 5100s set at 0, should I run 887?

Is there a difference between lift with long beds and shortbeds?

NOTE: The lift achieved from any kind of spring, whether it is a leaf spring or a coil spring, is a variable lift. Meaning that the amount of lift achieved can vary. Depending on the condition of your factory components (where applicable), how they respond to the added suspension, the overall weight of the vehicle and any add-ons added (bumpers, batteries, tool boxes, covers, light bars, skids, sliders, etc) and manufacturing tolerances of the spring themselves can all influence how much lift you can see from either spring. We provide the average after settled lift height that we have seen from clients running the suspension but with averages some people get more or less lift.

OME 884 coils 590 lbs spring rate 390 mm in length (approx. 1.75” of lift on a base stock weight 05-15 4dr 4wd v6 auto, approx. 1” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)
OME 885 Coils 590 lbs spring rate 395 mm in length (approx. 2.25” of lift on a base stock weight 05-15 4dr 4wd v6 auto, approx. 1.5” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)
OME 886 coils 660 lb spring rate 402 mm in length (not recommended to be run on the 5100's)
OME 887 coils 590 lb spring rate 400 mm in length (approx. 2.75” of lift on a base stock weight 05-15 4dr 4wd v6 auto, approx. 2” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)
OME 888 coils 590 lb spring rate 405 mm in length (not recommended for 05-15 models, approx. 2.5” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)

These numbers are based on the 5100's being set at the 0 setting. Yes the Bilsteins are adjustable by changing the notch setting up on the shock body. However by doing this with a lift coil, you compound lift. So instead of seeing around 0.85" (on the 2nd gen 5100's) or 0.65” (on the 3rd gen 5100's) of extra lift you may see an 1"+ more lift. Plus there are other issues at play here like potential coil bind issues. Also by adding additional preload you can affect the ride quality as well.

It been almost 5 months since I installed the Bilstein 5100 shocks on my 3rd gen Tacoma. Front coil spring are the OME 888 and a progressive AAL with over load spring on the rear. I also replace the the upper control from Camburg. I really like how it rides. Ride quality is better than stock in my opinion.

I like the ride from the OME 888/Bilstein 5100 combo.
I got close to 3” until I added sliders and a Slimline bumper. I figure it’ll sag a little more when I add the winch and Stage 2 kit.
I’m thinking about going up a setting on the 5100.

Any opinion on the 2.7 4 cylinder 4x4 and how it’s weight plays on after settled lift height? I hear it’s an iron block not sure if it’s much lighter in the front compared to a 4x4 v6 or if it’s lighter at all.

Found a guy selling the 5100/888 set for the front, for $450 new. Trying to decide if I should go this route or do a king or icon setup. What do you guys think? The amount of info on here is priceless!

    Don't unless you're a 2.7l 4 cylinder. The 888 coils will sag over time.
I'm looking for a new front setup due to my 888/5100 combo sagging after 5 months of use.

I found that this combo on the v6 did not give me the lift as expected(2.5”). Im not unhappy with the ride but got under 2” of lift

Yup same here. I'm right at about 2" of lift. HD Dakars in the back so I sit at about 2" of noticeable rake lol

I just got aal with the overload leaf removed so about 1” of rake. I do notice others with the same setup get the 2.5-2.75 of lift so really confused why its hit and miss

The stock coil is like between 650-700 and the 884, 885, 887, and 888 are all 590. Which means even though the 888s are 1.5" taller than stock they can't handle the weight so they end up sagging.

Other people must just get really lucky

Had a local mechanic suggest i put my bilstien 5100 to 1st notch but most people on this forum says they should be set on zero. Id like to get the extra hieght but dont want to give up any ride quality. What are you’re thoughts on moving the billy up a notch
