I have ordered aa set of 5100 adjustable shocks for my 07 taco and someone told me having them set highest setting would result in having to get newUCA's to have truck alligned? I talked to my mechanic and he told me i would be fine with stock UCA's. Anyone have any advice?

This is the 1st gen section but yes they are designed to work with stock components (aftermarket uca may still help but not necessary)

it will cause premature wear and possibly mess up cv's if you crank them to the 2.5 setting, also depending on what springs you are using, that will also be TOO TIGHT of a fit (spring compressed too much). If you keep it no higher then the 1.75 setting (1 ring from the top) you should be fine. I dont think youll be able to get "perfect" factory specs for alignment either, which can also cause irregular tire wear and alignment issues. Dont know your mechanic but if its a bum shop on the side of the road, chances are they dont have your best interest in mind and just want your money, but you know your surroundings better.

I ran 5100's at 2.5 with stock coils and stock UCA's for 10 months and had no issues even when wheeling. I was able to get my alignment good, i do however have to run +0.5* of camber help my caster. It did wander at highway speeds though. The ride was firm (some say rough.... it's a truck. Enough said). I went with new coils and UCA's recently to really get the most out of this set up. That being said......

You'll be fine at 2.5 with stock coils and UCA's. 5100's are a good shock, especially for lifting a truck on a budget. Just save up and build on this setup like i did with mine, or if you have have plans for a beefier setup like icon/fox/kings later on go that route and run this setup as a temporary setup.

you will be all set for a budget front lift with just the shocks set at 2.5. remember that your current coils are 8yrs old, they don't sit as tall as they once did and aren't as stiff anymore as when new. others are right when they say the alignment may not be perfect, but it should fall within the far end of factory spec if not very very close to it.
