I have around 500 lbs consistently on/in the back of my DCSB. For the time being, I'm adding air bags to help support the weight and bring the back end up to approx stock height. I'm considering upgrading the rear shocks to be able to handle the weight better and am looking at 5160's.

Is a collapsed length of 14.22" going to be too long to function well on an approximately stock height Taco?

why not just add Sumo Springs? nothing to fail unlike air bags...

With sumos, I'd have the choice between the old 610's which would give me a bit of lift all the time or the newer 612 which wouldn't help anything unless I were sagging and resting on it (I'm trying to correct the sagging issue). I like the adjustability of the bags. I intend to keep them as a part of my setup once I get a full suspension upgrade and camper installed.

    Now, about those shocks...

Shocks don't carry weight, you should be looking at Leaf Springs. Either AAL or a whole new pack.

Dear lord people. Springs and air bags are carrying weight. I’m upgrading my shocks. Focus. :)

From what i understood the 5160s are good for 0-1” of lift.

I had them when I was stock height and switched to the b110 5100s when I went up in height

Okay, info I’m reading says 1-3” for ‘05 plus. This must be like the fox suspension parts where for ‘16 plus you subtract 1” for actual difference. In that case it should work well.

    Thanks for your help!
