I'm sure it would be fine if he changed it right now, with no damage. Yet you still have morons who change their oil every 3-5k and all they do is drive on the street. Some people like wasting their money. I'll stick to the manual recommendation of 10k intervals.

I've done 36 month leases for the wife for years. Every 3 years she gets a new vehicle. She's happy....I'm happy.

And I've always immaculately maintained them....cosmetically and mechanically. 3 years later someone always ends up with a cream puff vehicle that was hand washed weekly, used Shell fuel and had regular oil changes with M1.

Call me weird, I guess. :notsure:

Is shell fuel somehow better than all others?...

Is oil burning an issue on 3rd gens or too new to tell? I know older high performance engines will, it’s normsl but you should be able to go 2-3k miles before topping off...a quart per 100 Miles? That seems really excessive, does it pass smog? @EatSleepTacos

ETA: Nevermind I read the rest of the thread. You're some troll kid that likes playing storytime on the interwebs. Carry on.

I don’t think they’re morons, maybe old school and that small price is worth peace of mind perhaps...I personally don’t feel comfortable going to 10k, even though that number could be de-rated to add cushion from say it actually being able to go 15k but because some people don’t get around to it right away, it’s still a safe number. To each his own I guess. I know it’s been proven scientifically but I’m still old school, just not 3k miles old school, more like 5-6k. The oil might handle it but the filter over the life of the engine will slowly trap more as it gets older..a new truck with a new filter today won’t have much to trap, but at 100k miles, that filter is catching more when sitting through 10k.

I agree, just tells it like it is, and has made it by not giving a fuck about the other guy. Also know as a lawyer.

@ToyoTexas I can also second that he is not a troll, with 3 Tacoma’s and lots of good feedback posts, he is a beneficial member here. However, his outspoken thoughts and opinions coupled with some dry humor and hidden sarcasm may offend some when reading in between the lines. (No disrespect @PROseur). It’s hard to guage or not judge members on a forum because after all this is the internet and these are all letters coming from a keyboard...don’t be quick to judge!

Are you sure about throwing ¨He¨ around like that? From some of the posts I have seen, I would guess otherwise.

Not necessarily. But it is on the Top Tier list...which means it exceeds the mandated minimum detergent requirements
