That's why bought the ranch gun, I want something that holds more rounds but it end up weighing more than my compact. Hate dragging dead, useless weight if hiking for several hours.

    Ruger Compact camber in 308
    18 inch barrel
    36.75 overall length
I was able to hit 12 inch steel target @ 350 yard, good enough for me. Haven't try shooting farther than 350. Cheap and I can careless of its scratch or get drop while hunting, it's not a thousand gun. It's shorter than the gunsite and have a 1.5 inch longer barrel.

@Krim 559 might want to look into that compact, @ half the price of the ranch gun

Just build a light weight ar15 with 22lr conversion for small game and 5.56 for big game. Or build two uppers haha.

I for one isn't much a fan of pistol grips though.

Light weight is mostly those $300-$600 dollar guns with no frills and will hit a fist size target at 300 yds if your good.

Thats about all a person needs for hunting these days

A lot of the times I just run with the 38spl and a 22lr. See a deer at point blank, I pop it, if not I'm small game hunting. Mostly after sunrise though

    Shot placement matters

You can hunt with a 7mag but can hit for sh1t, no use of having a 7mag. Most hunter anticipate the coil prior to shooting.

That's why I want to custom built 300 wsm with a custom twist and full flute 22 inch barrel.

But for now, ol trusty 6.8spc and 308 can get the job done

Thank you. It's a weld yourself kit. Comes with all the pieces and you have to weld them together. It's made by north west trails.
