Not beneficial. Leave it alone imo. Check out engineering explained video on that charcoal filter

Only thing I don't like about aluminum is all the heat it can generate around there from the engine. And as for cosmetics it looks funny in an engine bay like ours. Too tacky haha

Any tube replaced from factory is what gives all the intake sound.

Is not equal though, I tested just replacing the tube for one without a resonator and that sounded quite different from the KN Intake which also replaced the whole filter.

This one is different since it keeps the stock box and just replaces the tube without a resonator and adds a new filter. Will be testing it when it arrives tomorrow anyways.

Would like to see the dyno numbers to back up the claims. Not knocking it, but ultimately sometimes our butt dyno lies.

Most of the videos I've watched and listened to almost all sound the same. Guess the videos are deceiving. I've heard the hps tube and it sounds pretty close to other intakes. Personally switching out the stock airbox is the dumbest move

I'm also curious because all the videos out there you find are bs. I try to be as accurate as possible. I'm curious as hell to find out

Yah well I'd rather spend under 200 for a tube than a throttle enhancer like alot of others do and that's more money lol. Least an intake tube has potential power.
Reason why I wanna try just the tube is because there is infact some gains on the dyno proven with some aftermarket intakes. Rogue offroad showed this with the s&b. I personally don't justify that much money for intakes for the power produced. So maybe as simple as the intake tube being changed will benefit close enough and at half the price.

Who says anything about thinking I'm faster. I'm literally gonna put it on the dyno for precise proof. I'm also on ovtune as well so if when the day comes I may be able to use vftuner and possibly tweak if need be. It's a question I'd have fun answering to show people. Nothing wrong with that and I don't mind the intake noise so that be nice also.

I had an k&n intake on my dodge 4.7 (total junk) and I thought for that first while I was faster. I'm sure it was a bit better but nothing like I was feeling. It's all the sound blasmophy

The HPS intake sounds alright but is definitely very different and quieter than the ones that do a full replacement of the intake filter into the open box/filter style one.

The open filters sound great under 4k rpms, with almost the burble of a V8 but if you floor it there is this huge annoying imo cabin vibration/drone and I attempted 2 different intakes so pretty sure most open filter intakes will sound like that.

K & N filters made me a ton of money when I worked at a Ford Dealer (retired now). Lots of lean codes from oily MAF sensors. Also oily dirt rings in throttle bodies lowering air flow by the throttle plate. Yes they flow more and are great for racing. I have never owned one on a daily driver, only on race vehicles. Most owners never maintain them properly. They are like flow master mufflers, more sound equals more power. If you have one clean maf and t-body regularly.

Agreed. Looks like a cheesy 90’s Honda Civic under the hood. It’s on my list to either paint/coat it or wrap it with something.

Maybe, but on the other side of the coin, i’ve been using K&N and other similar brands for 30+ years on cars, motorcycles, diesel trucks and big rigs and never had a problem related to them (never owned a Ford though. Lol) Made some noticeable power and fuel mileage gains on a few vehicles as well. Had many engines pulled apart with no problems after years of use too.

Good on you for being willing to dyno it, but unfortunately it wont make any difference for the nay sayers. To quote myself here, I already did this in the past, even linked the dyno from the s2000 showing power gain in mid range and people still keep saying it will make no power.

Looks like my previous post has aged as well as I expected and seems to still hold up.

I have mentioned this before, but K&N 63 made a big difference on my 4.0 ranger. Throttle response was way better and more power in low and mid rpm range, noticed no difference at high rpms. I know it had more balls at lower rpms, because I could’ve easily climb same hills in a higher gear without lugging the engine. It sounded awesome as well. I had it for 5-6 years, no issue with MAF or anything like that. Truck drove great till I sold it at 160k miles.

Don’t think intake will make a big difference on the 3.5L, it already uses the same air box from 5.7L. I have the HPS tube, air flow accelerator and TRD filter. Sounds amazing and throttle response improved a bit, other than that i noticed no difference.
