    this exactly

Rough estimate 2k for tires and wheels, 1700 for lift Thats 3700 right there. Labor, Alignment, mounting and balancing tires puts you pretty close to 5700

you think it takes 2 hours to install all of that and an alignment?

What do you intend to use your truck for?

Are the 887's and medium leaves good for now but will need to be changed up if you start adding armor?

Why 285's, do you need them?

They seem to making some money on the labor but that’s how things are nowadays. The kit itself is not a bad kit at all. I would consider doing the lift first then wheels and tires at a different time, or finding a used set maybe a bit cheaper.

My advice is to shop around for used stuff! Like others have said, you can find the wheels from somebody taking them off their rig. Also, TW has classified threads, WA and OR have a thread and you see plenty of people returning their vehicles to stock and will sell their take offs for half price a lot of times. Try to do the labor yourself if you’re mechanically inclined. Save and pay cash. I started doing this stuff when I was 16 on my first 4runner and now I’m 40 and still throwing money in these trucks! Good luck and welcome to this “hobby”

If I'm doing it myself at home? Of course not, it took me a beer-fueled day to do mine.

On a shop lift with air tools? Half an hour per corner doesn't seem all that farfetched.

My figure already subtracted cost of alignment and wheel mounting.

Do the trails you are taking your truck on require that much lift and those modifications...If they do, you may want to add some skid plates and other underbody protection to the truck which is gonna push up your total a bit.

I would stick away from a MT and look into a AT, my preference for all around including snow and esp ice is Duratracs. As for brand that is up to you, research and pick what you think will work best.

Check with a reputable tire shop that sells the brand of tire on your truck. The defect may be covered by warranty.

I've got a question... Why did you buy a truck that you don't like?

You might want to consider driving it for a year before creating something different. You might like it the way it is. But then what do I know? I'm not 22.

Look around for better prices. Do your research first! If you don’t have the means to do it yourself dig through this site to hopefully find somebody who can at the very least recommend somebody or someplace. Whatever you do don’t rush unless you’ve got the money to burn. If you do then have at it because in the end it’s your truck. Here’s a couple of things to keep in mind: Buy quality! If you’re going to have it installed get estimates. Once you “makes it yours” enjoy the hell out of it!
Btw, I completely agree with doing it yourself. Plenty of videos on YouTube university.

Maybe think about the major stuff for a bit. Do some smaller creature comfort items. I find the taco garage DMM useful. Find a deal on the major stuff or wait for holiday sales.

Its funny I ran heavy 10 ply 275 KO2s for the last 5 years because everyone said 285s wouldn't fit without rubbing - decided to take the plunge this go-round and put 6 ply 285 KO2s and no rubbing, lighter tire, and it rides much better.

Nice! The negative Nancy’s of the world will say it’s not possible. I’ve been wrenching for over 17 years. The internet know-it-alls obviously know 285’s don’t fit lol. Things don’t work when they aren’t done right.

There are also idiots in every age bracket. I've met plenty of people that don't mentally progress beyond high school, and more often than not they seem to hold some pride in their ignorance. Experience is the best teacher, no doubt, but knowledge comes in all shapes and sizes.

Assuming a 22 year old is mentally inferior is hilarious to me, even if it wasn't intended as an insult. Saving 80% of his income has got to be in the 99th percentile for any age bracket. It's better to treat people as individuals, regardless or age, sex, financial stability, occupation, appearance, etc. because everyone is different in a million different ways.
