    OP: Also for comparison:
    Stock 4Runner wheels for $400
265/70R17 Duratracs, new TPMS for $1,200
5100 Bilsteins for $450 (not installed yet)
Icon 1.5” AAL for $225 (not installed yet)
Also doing 17” 4Runner brakes for about $650, and True Trac rear diff for $650+

So - $3,575 DIY. Look at install cost separately. If DIY isn’t your thing, shop around for the install. $2K seems high.

LOL at everyone saying its way over priced. Lets add this up shall we

OME kit he described average price of lets just say $1,600
    https://yotamafia.com/product/ome-old-man-emu-2-3-lift-kit-3rd-gen-tacoma/

Cheapest i could find is tire rack $320 a tire with no shipping fee brings total to $1,280.
    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...wVtIR1CO9XVXQ1rVEuTBMmDcWobOG23Sd8wJeukFxdFg0

$1050 TRD pro 4 runner wheels. Not sure which version but $1050 seems like an ok price.
    https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-4Runner-TRD-PTR20-35110-BK/dp/B07PDNSTDK

Now price pre labor, mount balance wheels, alignment and Tax is 3,930. So after all that is added in your at $1,770. Idk what yall think labor should cost but lets just go with $80/hour. Which he isnt going to get but this just to prove a point lol. Comes to $640 labor. Tax at %4.85 in UT on $3,930 is $190.61. Alignment $100 Mount and balance $60 ?

Total $4,920. Now that's with a very generous labor rate. Lets say labor is higher at most places i know at $120/h

    New Total $5,240.

While it does seem a little over priced i would not say it is way over priced. I would try to get them to come down a little bit.

Good analysis here. So how should the OP do this? Get the lift kit installed, get the alignment, the get the new tires? Lift kit, tires, alignment? I would get each job quoted separately. Some places might inflate the quote if they think the buyer (like a young 22-year old) doesn't know what's involved. Lift kit - less than a day. Alignment and mounting/balancing - call around to a few tire shops. (It doesn't have to be for the Duratracs, but for a similar sized/cost set of tires.)

Ethan, I love my Bilstein 5100 2/1" lift. Personally I wouldn't go any higher, but to each their own. If I could afford it, I would have gone Bilstein 6112 2/1" lift, but I'm more than content.

Also love my 265/75/16 Duratracs, and only wish they came in a 33" 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 pizza cutter size.

Good luck, and go play with your stock OR to see what you really need to improve it. It's always tires....

People be thinking that mechanics should sell parts at cost, not charge labor and make $0 on all jobs, essentially volunteer work lol. It’s hilarious.

in construction labor accounts for 60% of the cost of a new building. (just something to add to the fact its expensive)

    I'd get 2 quotes...at least.

I'm one of those old guys who has upgrades installed with a trustworthy service location/mechanic.

    Well-written and thorough perspective.

But then again, I've been told that I talk down to people (via email mostly) because I advise on processes that makes them feel like I'm telling them how to do their job. lol

    Talk about insecurity...

Heck, I joined the USAF at 19 and bought my mother's Pulsar (which she bought new) with her recommendation & financing...yeah, don't ever borrow money from mom! lol

This young buck OP is asking for our thoughts/perspective...something I know I didn't do/have in 1986 because I wasn't hip on Forums. (pre-forum platforms were probably around but not like today)

OP, review/skim this thread with a grain of salt...even my input requires possible ignore but that's for you to decide.

All I can say, take your time. Do a little research/projection on your finances. Make it work for you on your terms.

You'll be happy when it all comes together nicely.

I know I said don't borrow money from mom but at least ask for her advice. (maybe you're avoiding that convo?)

In either case, good luck and get at least 2 more quotes!

OP, change the tires if you don't like how they perform then drive the truck for a year or two stock. Maybe add a bedmat, better interior floor mats and some recovery tools if you offroad. After a year or two change what you don't like.

I didn't put a lift on my truck for almost two years and even then I ended up changing it a year later.

What you think you want now can change a year from now.

Now this is the kinda thread that makes my TW membership dues worth it.

The way tire prices are rising I am surprised the tires alone are not 5k.

I’m about to get my suspension done. So for comparison, it’s $1200 labor for: shocks, leaf pack, UCA’s, front bumps, u bolt flip, ECGS bushing, alignment. That’s 8 hours at $150 an hour which is in-line for prices in CO after checking with multiple off-road shops.
