Check around for local Tacoma groups, found my 1st group on TW, now everybody migrated to FB. Local group organizes trail runs plus people randomly recruit for the odd weekend. Members are usually happy to help with installs, pay them with beer/food. I did my lift myself on a parking pad, took a few weekends, very rewarding to DIY. Had to get help on the Total Chaos UCAs, little tricky. Installed the UCAs in a group member’s home garage, which for me was heaven, we did it in 2 hours. Paid him with a quart of cherry Lambic (Belgian Beer). Bought 2” lift from Headstrong Offroad, Medium Dakar leafs from OMEmu, UCAs from TC, about $3500. Labor about $15, being the beer. 4119F83D-FBE7-4F7F-8500-E833F290E1B8.jpg

Seriously, the people on here giving financial advice are Debbie Downers. OP is a grown boy/girl. OP came on a Tacoma enthusiast forum to get advice on some suggested mods. I'm not on the investing subreddit suggesting people take their money and adding a lift kit to their truck or PPF their Teslas.

To the OP, of course a lift helps with clearing bigger tires. Might not be all you need, but it's a start. Grab a buddy, watch Youtube like you're binging Netflix Sex/Life, and learn on the way. It's fun. An OME lift is what? $1200? Tires $1300. Wheels $900. That's about $3500 right there. Some misc shop parts and beers, and you're under $4k. But might I suggest you throw in new UCAs. That's another $1k right there.

UPDATE - Thank you everyone for your responses! I did not expect to get this many replies.

After some thought, I decided to go with new wheels/tires and wait for a lift kit. If I feel the need for a lift kit later on, I’ll do the research and install myself. For now, I’m rocking the stock suspension!

I went with 4Runner Pro wheels and 265/70R17 Wildpeak Falken tires!

Pro grill incoming - then I’ll look like the rest of you ;)
