Same thing happened to me a couple years ago when i was using the free dealer service. After the first time I started to drive to a Toyota dealer in a more rural area about 20 miles from where I lived just because they didn't stack up cars like that and it took at most 45 min.

No, the difference in time didn't make me happy, nor did I waste much time going there (I had to go two other places right down the road), but until I call around (there's a dealer in a more rural area near my work) it's what I can get

I never said I was special. But 2+ hours for 15 minutes of work is ridiculous. I'd understand if I just showed up, but I called and was told I had to wait over a week to come in. Then when I do they're overwhelmed with people that I'm assuming didn't call and just showed up therefore making me wait. They could've just told me to begin with not to bother with an appointment and I could've gone in first thing in the morning a week ago.

As for dropping it off, that isn't an option as my wife and I work opposite schedules so I'm stuck waiting.

Again, not tightly wound, just annoyed when my time is wasted. I've brought my wife's car and my old car in together and had both serviced (decent sized services, not just tire rotation) in half the time this was going to take. Granted, different location/brand, but still.

I get it man , I do. I remember having to wait upwards of two hours for them to change my oil, and sometimes even longer if I dropped it off. The jist is oil changes are so low on the list that other $ makers come first. I guess lesson learned, appointments only get you in the que and not actual service!

Oil changes aren't the money maker but these free services are a way for the dealer to earn future business on the repairs that generate alot of revenue. I think if they make an effort for the little stuff they could be the first pick for the owner for when it's time to get major services done.

Mine took 20 minutes. But my appoint was for 8 in the morning on a Friday. But at my local Toyota dealer never waited longer than an hour for an oil change. But waited 9 months however on my 2nd Gens frame replacement.

I used to walk around to different lots in the auto mall and test drive stuff. Test drove a WRX STI, a TLX, Camaro and a 5.0 Stang. It was really fun but dealing with car salesman is such a hassle.

My dealer has a nice waiting room with free drinks, including ICEEs, and popcorn, so I don´t mind waiting.

Sounds like my kind of place. I live within 65 miles of 4 different dealerships. I'll check them out. I know after warranty runs out and I have to pay. I will call each service dept. for a price quote on repairs. I done this with my Dakota, you would be surprised at the cost difference between dealerships just to hook one up to a computer.

I don't understand why you would go off on the guy about that. One, who gives a shit if it takes two hours? Two, how is it his fault?

I thought you were going to say that you were going to call around for a dealership with an ICEE machine. Kind of disappointed.

I hope the short time doesn't mean that they didn't really change your oil or do anything else. I have had two experiences with Koons. The first is when I brought them a 1997 Ford F250 I had just bought at an auction, and hadn't even opened the hood on. I asked them to check it over, and I got the truck back with a long checklist of things they said they checked, including the battery and a ton of other things they would have had to raise the hood to see. The next morning the truck wouldn't crank, and when I raised the hood there was the battery with a massive amount of cauliflower-like corrosion on the terminals. They obviously never even raised the hood to check anything.

Another time I just wanted them to fix a signal that wasn't working. They told me they would have to replace the blinker mechanism, and for that would have to remove the steering column. I knew that was bullshit, and took back the truck and fixed it by changing the bulb. They are crooks as far as I'm concerned.

i don't like posting on stuff like this but i see it from the other side. techs are not paid hourly they are paid flat rate. so if they are not working on a car they are not getting paid. so to have a tech waiting for you with a open lift at the exact appointment time(that no one is on time for) is not good for the tech or good for the business. If you knew all that you needed was i tire rotation wouldn't it of made sense to just do it with your next oil change so you not going to the dealer for a small job. its not that dealers don't care about you, its that for something like that the process to get it into the shop takes longer than the job. how often when you have a doctors appointment do you get brought in at the exact time of the appointment? almost never.

I find that if I make my appointment when they open and I get there 10 minutes early, I'm the first in, and out. Simple things are turned around right away and I'm out of there. Having said that, I agree with the posters who say they do their own work just to avoid the dealership. I do that, too. Finally, be nice. No one needs to use the F word. It rarely speeds things up, makes a good impression, or moves things along in your favour.

Local dealer has 2 express bays for Toyota Care and oil changes. No appointment needed since you just get in line. I go early and I am in & out in <45 minutes. My 5K Toyota Care service included an oil change along with a tire rotation and fluid level check. On the 10K service, the trans fluid level was also checked (truck needed 5/8 of a qt added).

I've worked at dealerships , watch throwing around the F word at the service department people. You'll end up with couple of drops of 90 weight on you windshield wipers and you'll never knows there until it rains then you'll have to pull off the road to clean it off became it smudges the window so bad you can't see out of it.....this also works great for X girl friends and DickHead Bosses.........Just say'n
