Well got the block deglazed. For me being so nervous about it, it was one of the easier parts. Need to gap some piston rings then I can start some assembly.

    What do you guys think?

Idk how many miles are on that block but it looks pretty nice! Might wanna measure the taper from top to bottom just in case, but looks good!
I also have no engine building or disassembling experience so don't listen to me, but do go and watch Jafromoblie on YouTube. He does some suuuuuuppppper clean engine builds, like above and beyond. :D

This is my first time but I've been getting alot of info from Jafromoblie. I love the method he uses to degrease and clean everything.

Finally got the heads apart for some cleaning. Since I have 2 engines that means I have 64 valves, springs and retainers to clean. I'll pick out the best ones to build the heads.

Gapped and sized all 8 pistons. Glad I went with Hasting piston rings as I only had to open one ring up. That ring was already in spec but I wanted to be close to the others in the middle of the range. The next step is for the crank to go back in and then install pistons.

Getting closer got the crankshaft back in and had one hiccup so far. I some how accidentally crushed part of the tab on one of the main bearings. While trying to figure out what I was going to do I remembered I had a spare engine lol. I used part of the bearing from the other engine. While I know this wasn't ideal the bearing had no wear marks and I checked the clearance using plastic gauge.

I also got the stronger pistons and new rod bearings in. The next couple of days I'll be hopefully putting the heads together. My goal is to have the engine back together by the end of the year. That's just bolted back together then the wiring is a whole another hurdle.

Nope in Florida a cardboard box with wheels can be a car. I'll still run a highflow cat though...don't like the car smelling like a boat lol

Yeah it's kinda nice to not have to worry. I totally get cats though and prefer having at least one to cut the smell.
