My Tacoma downshifts into 1st gear easily when moving if I double clutch.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
This. Forcing it in will wear down the syncros which don't work too well until the oil warms up.

Shift to neutral, release the clutch, and blip the throttle a bit. Quickly shift into 1st (yes, use the clutch - some ppl dont use the clutch when double clutching; I think thats stupid). If you are moving, use 2nd. If you really want to use 1st, when in neutral (and clutch is released) rev the engine slightly higher than "rev match" (if you just rev match, by the time you get in gear, RPM's would have dropped a bit) and then shift into 1st. I recommend you practice this a little. Its a very useful tool for driving stick.

In fact, do this whenever down sifting. Double clutching will save your syncros and the overall transmission from premature wear by rev matching not only the engine to the wheels, but the internal gears of the trans (when in neutral and the clutch is released, the engine and trans are spinning together).
