Life gets hard. This meet has turned into something bigger than we ever thought it would get. With the rangers cracking down on unplanned/unregistered events and the very large costs of getting permits and insurance to cover an event its getting very challenging to do. In order to meet the insurance requiremnts vehicles would have to pass safety requirements which would never happen with the types of trucks that attend (SD 4 wheelers requirements to meet their insurance requirements http://www.sd4wheel.com/runsevents/safety-requirements/ ). The possibility of fines being levied to the organizers of an unregistered event with 75+ trucks in attendance could run into the thousands because of things like raffles and such. Without collecting $100+/per participant like the SD4wheelers we wouldn't even be able to come close to the costs to run an event.

Steve has family things going on. Manny is expecting his 1st child in the middle of January.

So all things things combined has made this year an uphill battle. I don't think a planned/organized event is going to happen this year, unless something majorly changes unfortunately.

We have hopes to do a lot of planning and possibly partner with some big names to help put this on in the future, but time will tell.

Forsure and you know I will be there.

Just want to set the expectation that it won't be managed like years past. I know a lot of people came because of the raffle...because they would leave right after it lol

I agree with the above post. We don't need a raffle. I don't win anything anyways, lol. The guys that like the dirt will show up anyways. Trucks, camping, off road, food, fires, and lots of alcohol at night. What weekend do you guys want in January or maybe setup a poll?

Yes there is money in the bank leftover from last year. Is it is bunch? I guess someone could buy a set of used coilovers with it.

All the food and drinks last year were purchased out of my personal checking account from Costco which I was reimbursed out of raffle proceeds after the event. Receipts and records are kept of monies in and out and it hasn't been touched since last January.

    Why do you ask?

I think TRAC sponsored 2 years ago?

Manny and I have spoke to a few people about stepping up and taking on responsibilities but no one has took much interest. If anyone is interested in taking a lead contact me and we can sit down and talk.

I'm down to throw in a few bucks towards necessities. If I get a truck in time I'm down to just roll out there with a small group.

So we run into a gray area if we try to something like food, t shirts, and any type of sponsored donations?

To add to that no one is in charge. Not sponsored. Everyone is free to show up and leave when they want. No plans. Just enjoy the desert

I'm curious how those "meetup" things work out since this operates the same way with no money involved and everyone is responsible for their own actions
