    I have a 5th Gen T4R (2016) and my Tacoma...

wife drives the 4Runner and wants to change up the wheels and go w/ the SCS SR8s.

My question is can I take her wheels / tires (OEM Sema TRD wheels and 285 BFG KO2s w/ OEM TPMS sensors) and put them on mine and just reset the TPMS system?

and then use my factory sensors from my stock wheels on her new SR8s when they get mounted?

I would like to avoid pulling the sensors out of her wheels, pulling the sensors out of my wheels, putting my sensors in her old wheels and putting her sensors in her new wheels and doing a 12 wheel shuffle.

Check the owners manual for all vehicles to find the part numbers for the included sensors. If the same part number for all vehicles then no prob obviously. If you get different models then check online for compatibility.

IIRC, the computer "identifies" the sensors by serial # - which has to be manually entered via Techstream. So, either keep the same sensors with the same vehicle (which you don't want to do) or break all 8 wheels down, write down the serial #s and input them via Techstream in the new vehicle (which is just as much trouble but if you save the paper with the serial #s you can avoid having to do that part again).

That's how it was explained to me, and why my TPMS light is still on....

Anyone with Techstream that can help register new TPMS for my truck? I live in Thousand Oaks.

Hes right. Theres a sticker on each sensor with a serial number. Thats how they mate the sensors to the truck. Sounds like youre gonna have to separate wheels and tires either way you go. Or ignore the TPMS light.

Is Techstream the only option for inputting new sensors to the vehicle computer?. Like the OP, I wanted to keep my old wheels/tires intact with their own TPMS and had sensors taken off of another truck installed in new wheels last night. Tire Tech was unable to program them and told me to go to dealer. It was past closing time so I wonder if they just wanted to get me out of the shop.

Given my avatar I fee the need to respond haha. This is the correct answer.

OP, if you just don't want the dash warning lights you can get 4 cheap aftermarket sensors and have them programmed to your truck (original ones can be overridden) and then put them into a pressurized tube stored somewhere in your truck (google TPMS pipe bomb). Obviously that way they don't provide the intended safety.

Then you can use the sensors from your truck for her new wheels
