    Hi there,

I have a weird one I would love some help on.

    I have a 1999 5VZFE currently, it is swapped into a second gen 4runner.

Odd engine noise that I can only describe and a high pitched squeal. It always happens when first starting up the motor and then shutting her down. I also get the noise with varied repeatability when I accelerate sharply. Squeal seems to happen in the engine is reving down. Clutch in or out does not seem to make a difference.

    To troubleshoot I have:
    Removed all belts
Replaced timing belt, water pump, idler, tensioner, tensioner pulley.
I have replaced the crank drive pulley with another one from a wrecked 5VZFE. Torqued to 219 FT/LB.

Here is vid before I replaced everything:

Here is vid after WP/Timing with no accessories at all:

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am this close to tearing everything apart. But, I would love to have an idea of what I am looking for before I pull it.

    Thanks

I have never heard any noise like that before .

Just on hearing the noise my first thought is electronic feed back of some sort if it was not coming from a engine

I am guessing your not seeing seeing any drops in oil pressure

Thing with a noise like that almost impossible to tell just where it is coming from

Then if you pull things apart no way to tell just what it might have been

rebuild the whole engine and it might not cure the squeal

I really appreciate the response. I am in agreement that the noise source is hard to narrow down. It does sound like the noise is coming from the engine. I have ordered a stethoscope to aid in diagnosing the source.

I am afraid of ripping things apart at substantial cost, not finding anything odd and then putting it all back together and the noise remaining.
