nice. Yea a .63 is what I'd do with just a turbo on this motor for better street manners. You feel it choke out at 4500?

I always thought this was the perfect SC for a twin charge setup:

Then you just do turbo right to the throttle body, then go to the intercooler from the SC.

Be pretty cool. Was FS on here a few years back. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ioned-and-modified-for-an-intercooler.394511/

don't think you could do that with a black SC though, have to do the 1st gen.

I remember seeing that and thought it was a good idea. One problem is all the volume after the throttle body. There are 2x 4-5' pipes plus the IC volume still full of charge air after the throttle closes. May be a slight lag or lean condition for a moment. Also any couplers will be subject to 20" of vacuum when the throttle closes on deceleration. You can't use silicone couplers because they will collapse, they must be reinforced. Would be interesting to hear back from the user.

I would try to do a liquid to air intercooler like the newer versions have. Not much hood space for that though. Or place a couple laminova cores in the charge plenum, make a water box around them, then hook up a pump and heat exchanger.

Was going to say, I remember a thread where someone cut a gen1 open and shoved a hayden or transcool in there, some plumbing and another at the radiator, pump etc and did an air to water setup much like the new S/Cs come with. Was awesome- though I wonder how critical the difference it made, and it would be one heck of a restriction for any air flow beyond what the S/C moves (like a nice turbo setup).

The gen1 pic you posted shows how the bypass is an external bit and can probably be ported and made bigger much easier than a gen2.
