Hello. I am trying to button up a motor swap on my first gen single cab. I took out the 3rz and dropped in a 5vz. In doing the swap, I also swapped out the engine harness and ecus to a v6 set up. Here's what went wrong: I go to start it, and it dies within 2-3 seconds. The only time it will run is when the key is in the start position. Once I let the key go back to the run position, it dies. Any ideas?

    Things I've already checked:
    Ignition switch
Circuit opening relay (replaced that with the one off the parts truck)

Assuming the ignition switch is the same connector for 3rz and 5vz?

Looks like the 5vz feeds the ignitor from the switch and the 3rz feeds the distributor/coil/ignitor.

I would check to see if the 5VZ ignitor is getting power when the key is on. Power should be black with red stripe. Also check the ground to the ignitor which should be brown.

Next I would look at the two sensitive sensors for the engine which may have been bounced in shipping/extraction etc. The crank sensor (by the crank pulley on right side) and cam sensor (on the left side under the upper cover)

Good luck! Sounds like the bulk of the work is done!

What do you mean by re-pin?

When I did my 5VZ swap I replaced the engine harness and the body harness. If the Re pin doesn't work install the doner trucks harness.

Yes. Removed the dash and replaced the complete harness. Not too difficult.

Not bad. Remove the steering column and dash. The harness runs along the firewall. Take your time and remove the mounting clips. Start at one side drivers and work over to the other side. I think you'll need the fuse box and integration relay box too. All relays and small computers leave plugged in and unbolt them from their mounts. Remove the doner harness first.
