    Gabe at snpspeed.com can do a remote tune, he sells these kits and does turbo setups,
    He will know what turbo u need.
    His 4 banger Toyota pickup puts out 800 hp or more

    I will look him up. Turbo is what I had planned on spending the most money on, but I could get a less expensive turbo and have money for the Haltech

    I agree, supercharger is less power than turbo but with my supercharger setup no pushing around happening here:)

    Haltech is the bomb if u can swing it and more power because of the tune abilities.
    The haltech software actually uses a 5 channel oscilloscope to look at your tune.

    If u have the budget the haltech is by far the best option

    350k mile 5vz, 61mm $150 chinese turbo (gt3586 journal bearing) with about 30k on it, 550cc injectors, AEM F/IC, 18psi on 93 octane. I currently have boost turned down to 10psi, running 87 octane, and spraying 100% meth when i get into boost. I have a Holset hx35 that I originally started with that I need to be rebuild... it makes better turbo noises.

    Truck has cx hot and cold side. Been turbo since 250k and held up well. I daily it and race it a few times a year. Goes 7.6 in the 1/8 mile.

    800+ hp from a 4cyl? Where's the link, I want to be see. Will be impressive to push 200+hp per cylinder, which I haven't seen beside the 2jz on a straight 6.

    I am seriously considering it. Does the Haltech come with any harness at all, or do you have to buy extra? I am pretty skilled at wiring so naturally I would try to wire it myself instead of a pnp.

    +1. Vote for haltech, no experience with the Tacoma but I had one in my VW for a few years and it was miles better than flash tunes I tried on the oem ecu. Fun experience in the realm of tuning and high HP but the CA no fun laws caught up to me and Im back at stock so I could get my daily back

    You would need to make your own harness that would plug into the specific tacoma plugs or ecu if it's done as a piggyback.
    I'm not 100 perfect how the kit comes but would be easy to ask haltech, they are available anytime for support and when your getting your haltech setup unlike most other companies

    You will be a lot happier with a (smaller) turbo that is sized for your horsepower goals. Stock engine tops out around 400WHP, which is around 15-18PSI.

    Become very familiar with how to read compressor maps to determine the right turbo for you. Calculate the mass airflow you expect at the peak boost for you peak horsepower and find a compressor map that just barely bounds you in that region. The turbo that comes (or used to) with the CXracing kit (a GT35-base IIRC) is way too big unless you're doing major changes to your engine.

    Looks like the Haltech doesn’t include any connectors, but a connector and pin kit is available from Haltech for around $75. I guess they figure most people would be using a pnp harness anyway and don’t include the connectors with the unit. I searched for a breakout box (these were common in dealership shops years ago, nobody ever used them and they always got stuck somewhere collecting dust) thinking I could rob the female connector off it to make my own pnp harness and found this https://www.diyautotune.com/product/diybob-breakout-adapter-nippondenso-76-pin/
    This is exactly what I need to make a harness to adapt the Haltech to my factory harness without hacking it all to shit. Whenever I modify anything on this truck I try to do it so I can revert back to stock if I want to. I don’t know why I do this. I am never going to sell it, I have been driving it almost daily for 22 years.

    Nice! 30k on a cheap turbo is really good. Sometimes you can get lucky with China made parts. I think they have the ability to make good parts, it’s their quality control thats lacking. Bad batches still get sold.
