ok so i threw a rod into my oil pan yesterday at 105k in my 2001 TRD SR5 Tacoma... i need a new engine so i'm thinking why not drop in a Tundra V8, then Supercharge it.

so my question is this what do you think?

    5VZFE or 2UZFE

    also would that even fit?

im gonna guess it wont fit without serious modification. Also heard the Tundra engines are considerably taller. If i was doing a v-8 swap i would find an LS motor.

    Screw the 2uz

    week rods.

go with a 4.0 1uzfe. There are more of them around and cheaper to buy.

or get the newer 4.3L 3uzfe. This is sweet little motor. Lots of power and decant mpgs. Plus the intake manifold is the same as 2uzfe...meaning you can still put the TRD SC on it if you want..

Plan on a lot of work. If your gonna do it.... Do it right. I'm currently working my heads so I can get every ounce of power out of it. With maintaining reliability.

"accidentally" threw a rod into your oil pan, eh? OH Darn.. haha kidding.

Heard of a guy who did the Lexus 4.7 swap (can't remember where I saw his build thread) and with custom motor mounts, made it fit just fine. The power from a Tundy engine on a 1st gen Taco would be oh so sweet.. and you want to supercharge it?

You've got some jealous dudes who want you to keep us posted man. Good luck!

    4.0 Lexus v8?
Small enough to fit. It's a v8 so with mods lots of potential power.

    1uszfe is the 4.0l
    2uszfe is 4.7l
    3uzfe is 4.3l

id do the 3uzfe. Better motor. Can still SC it with the 2uzs SC and better mpgs and more power.

4 cylinder turbo diesel swap can be done. Very expensive though.

few companies out there swap in Hilux diesels for like 14-22k

Be carefull with a stronger engine - make sure the transmission, diff etc. can handle the extra power. I looked at a Hilux back in South Africa that had a Rover V8 in it. It was sweet and I almost bought it, but another dealer warned me about it - he knew the truck and so did most dealers in town - it had gone through 5 transmissions already at the time.

Diffs should be fine, the rear axle on tacomas are the same as the tundras, not sure about the front diff.
