I've been reading this forum for a long time, but have never needed to post anything. I have a 02 double cab 4 cyl 2wd now as I sold my 4x4 ex cab for some silly reason. The 4 cylinder has to go. My original plan was to put a 5.3 with a 4l60e and keep it 2wd. Now I came into another rolled ex cab v6 4x4. I was going to just swap the rear axles and sell everything else. Now I can't decide if I want to make my double cab a 4wd or 2wd ls swapped? It would take way to much effort to make it 4wd and ls swap unless some trading happens. Or stick with my original plan and sell a 4wd conversation kit to someone. Thanks!

mainly the oil pan is right in the way of the front diff, also I would need to figure some sort of exhaust routing for the driver side as there would be almost no room next to the front diff and steering shaft. I guess it could be easier if I were to add like a 6 inch body lift but I do not want to do that. if there was a way to mate the auto Toyota trans to the ls that would also make things easier but I have yet to find an option for that unless its a manual transmission.

Well if you have a V6 4x4 donor already, how about swapping in the 4x4 & the V6. Of course no where near as good as a LS would be but the 3.4 will be better than the 2.7.

That's mainly what I'm thinking if I go 4wd but I can't decide if I should just ls and 2wd or go 4wd. Would be nice to ls 4wd but it's not a full time toy. Just a hunting truck that is driven in town on occasion. I have the 5.3 and trans and mounts as well as the donor 4x4 truck

Solid axle front wheel drive with a cv swap in the rear.

    I'm for the 4WD

5th wheel must be a rod off the back like drag cars. Must be expecting to pop wheels with all that power

It would take way too much effort and I already have a project truck money pit.
