So what does it really take to wire one of these up into a Tacoma? My truck is in desperate need of a V8 lol

If you go to lt1swap.com it has tons of info or go to YouTube and watch how to standalone ls harness. Other than that just hook up the start wire black/white wire on the 4 pin under the engine bay fuse block. Alternator went straight to fuse block like factory. As long as the brown grounds from the factory engine harness is grounded you just tap into your rpm and speedo. Had to add a wire and the Tacoma coolant temp sender. Other than mounting the engine and trans its just a couple fuel lines/fittings, shifter rod and driveline modified. I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple little details but none I can think of right now. With buying a new reman 6.0 from jasper and parts I’m in it 4-5k?

Wow thats good to know. I'm confident in my mechanical ability and not so with my electrical ability so the other stuff you mentioned is cake walk. Even the wiring looks easy enough a monkey could do it hahah

    Just a 4l60, since I wasn’t planning on a 6.0 in the beginning. I have a 80 just in case lol

Cool man, I would highly suggest a corvette 2nd gear servo for your trans. It’s less than $100 and will take 15 mins. Itll make your shifts nice and tight.

Ya I don’t know what was done to the trans when I got it but the 1-2 shift had to be in the negative numbers on hp tuners to make it shift half way normal and not feel like it would break your neck or the rear end lol. Found out I was wrong and has 4.56 gears and been contemplating putting 4.10s in it for mpg

If I were to put the 4.10 rear end locker in, other than wiring does it need a vacuum tank and solenoid? Sorry I’m being lazy

How does that 6.0L feel? What are the HP/FtP? Do you feel it needs more or less? Would a 5.3L been a better option? I curious what your thoughts on it are.

Eh it’s about the same 6.0 to 5.3 definitely more low torque with the 6.0. Either way it has plenty of hp/tq! I liked to build race cars and I want to so badly put a turbo or nitrous on it but with the warranty and me trying to convince myself it’s a normal truck and not a race car project lol. I do know it does not care now if I’m pulling a camper or whatever, plenty of normal driving power. It’s Probly about the same race between it and like an 04 mustang gt. It’s quick but not a race car. Weighed it the other day on scales at 4200 lbs with full gas me and ls parts in the bed

Have you done an mpg testing? Anything you would change and do different?

about the same mpg as the 2.7 15-18 depending on how its driven. I'm at 2450 rpm at 70 so the 4.10 rear gear should get better mpg instead of the 4.56s in it now. the only thing i would change is drive by wire maybe unless i can get cruise working with the factory switch. I have to have cruise! if you can afford or have ls1 accessories it would make the swap much much easier to fit in a big radiator and a/c. however the truck accessories line up with the tacoma really well. I had to cut the waterpump snout to get the radiator moved to the engine 3/4 inch to accept the a/c condenser. bigger exhaust would free up top end power, mine is 2 1/2 back to the muffler and like 2 inch out of the muffler. it sounds really good and quiet but suffers top end hp. I'm still going to move the intake possibly into the fender or isolate it, when it gets hot the intake temps get high and starts knocking out timing.
