    Ok answer this honestly, how many times have you absolutely had to put it in 4wd to get where you wanted to go?

    Well I use 4low every day due to living on farm plus wheeling in oregon means lots of mud so I use the rear locker and 4wd all the time.

    Understandable if you farm that's why the guy bought my 4wd tacoma. Other than that now I live in KS so it's pretty Rocky and steep

    I just couldnt imagine not having 4wd in any kind of truck, my truck see's the sand, dirt mud and rocks often so 4wd is a must.

    From my reading they are good for 300+hp stock. They are overbuilt and have forged internals stock. There's lotsa videos on YouTube of turbod 2/3rz.

    As for rear diff lock, it would be easiest to swap the complete rear axle. In the Tacoma the locked and non locked rear end are somewhat different. The locked rears are 8" and the non locked are what is concidered the 8.4". The 8.4 is still technically an 8" but it's trussed between bearing caps and beefier built.

    That is interesting, I did not know that. So the ring and pinion are not interchangeable?

    I have a microsquirt laying around but I will most likely use the stock harness and unlocked ecm for this truck. As of now I can run the engine in my garage on it's stand. But only on alternative fuel as the vats is not deleted yet.

    I don't believe so, the 8.4 in the non locked 1st gens is the same rear end as used in the 1st gen tundras and second gen tacos. Yet in the 3rd gen 4runners both the elocker and non elocker rear ends are the standard 8". Toyota likes to make things complicated

    I'm not 100% so maybe do a bit more research, but I'm pretty sure they're not interchangeable

    i could be completely wrong, but i think the gears interchange, but not the housing or thew complete 3rd member

    The v6 has around 225k the 4 banger has 360ish. The ls is going in either way. I have plenty of parts sitting around for it.

    I'm going to pick the 4wd up this weekend so maybe part out???? And keep the 4wd stuff for a rainy day. Or sell it as a kit and dump more money in the Chevy. Too many options and too many projects!

    That would be nice! What oil pan and headers/manifolds are you using? I'm guessing all ls1 accessories?
