Mids and lows are less directional than highs, you definitely need mids and lows as you described to fill the space. If you don't need the bass up front, I would probably put a low pass filter around 70-90 Hz on the doors to help orient the sound a bit more.

Getting the staging right makes a night and day difference in how it sounds.

yeah man I’m definitely following what you’re saying. I just don’t know how keen Id be to clipping speaker wires on brand new speakers haha

might look into kid range speakers to see if there are any available. If not then I might just go the route I thought of originally with the three ways or maybe even 2 ways. I really appreciate the input all in all though, definitely never thought of it that way.

Wow, that was probably the easiest way I've heard audio basics explained and it actually makes sense. I really appreciate you typing that all up. :cool:Very informative for me as I don't know much about audio at all:D

Yeah since he was talking about a surplus of power in the mids/lows in the rear including a sub, losing the lowest bass up front adds to the 3-dimensionality of the overall sound. Essentially spreads things out similar to spacing apart the different instruments on a live stage.

Those RF's are really good performance for the cost, totally worth it for <$100. Not really worth your time to install something slightly cheaper ;)

If you don't want to cut wires in new speakers just put heavy duct tape or preferably Black Gorilla Tape or even better 3M Mastic tape 2228 from Home Depot over the tweeters, which would eliminate most of their effect. Those look like they are designed to be fronts to me, the tape fixes that.

Cool thx I'm just trying to throw back something useful after pulling everything I can out of this forum in the last week. I haven't done anything but change the oil in my Tacoma in probably 10 yrs and after reading here I ordered a Scangauge II, am looking into the whole rust phenomenon, and am trying to guess if Kings are worth it vs OME lol.

Yeah it's a great thing about here is there's a lot of real good input from a lot of guys that really know their stuff. It's an amazing resource. Everybody or most pitch in their two cents and there's lots and lots of experience shared here.
