Not saying you are wrong, but have you done the math manually to verify the scangauge is correct? That just seems really high. I use the torque app on my phone and it shows similar MPG numbers, but it does not calculate the MPG while stopped so it just ignores the gas you burn while sitting idle. it would just be interesting to see if your scangauge numbers match up with doing the math.

Get an UG... It'll calculate all of that... only thing it wont calculate is if you have a cover

It's actually within +/- 1 MPG difference calculated. I ran a log on my 2011 and it got essentially the same mileage. Avg is around 21-22 MPG though. Most of my driving is only county back roads going to and from work where I can't get above 45 MPH so that is what makes it a little higher. If I had to drive it under normal conditions (I.E. stop and go city driving) it would be around 18-19 MPG range I would think.

    I just got 19mpg on a 300 mile trip (about 190 miles @ 73mph). Ironman 4x4 lift w/ 255/75/17 Cooper Discoverer AT3. 6spd gearbox.

Just driving around town, or round trip to work (6 miles away), I average 13mpg - warming up the truck to drive 9 minutes sucks!

That makes sense. I'm getting just under 16 MPG (doing the math, I don't trust the torque app) and I've been babying it. I'm think because I am driving more slowly the torque converter is slipping more than it would be if I accelerated a little quicker and losing some efficiency. My driving is pretty much all stop and go with the occasional interstate run at 75mph. I'm trying accelerating a little faster and just driving normally instead of babying it. Hoping it will help, 16mpg sucks. I also bumped up my tire pressure a good bit recently. I was going by the door jamb sticker that said 29psi, bumped them up to 35psi so maybe that'll help too. Probably also has to do with driving less than 15 miles in any one trip. Truck is just getting warmed up when I get to where I'm going.

    Yeah, no doubt.

Most of the time (and yes I know it sounds stupid) I drive like I've got a egg under my foot. But when I leave to go to work it is about 5:45 am and a 24 mile drive with just me and a bunch of fucking deer on the road. So I just have to take it slow and easy. If I drove it like I was supposed to it would be worse believe me.

also check your air filter.. :notsure: I know I need to clean mine and recharge it (K&N)

those short trips kill it too...

a lot of what I do is coast... get up to speed cruise control look ahead, which is a motorcycle trick, and see whats going on and then let off my cruise control and enjoy the free mpg's haha

    this haha

I've got a pretty heavy foot and my 08 gets around 16-17 MPG with highway mixed in for 8 miles a day (to and from work). I always calculate at the pump with my trip to see what I am getting.

Trucks only 4 months old. Not even turned 2,000 miles yet. (May also be a reason for the lower fuel economy)

I average 15.1 mpg according to Fuelly.com. I do 95% city stop and go and I run LT 265/75/16 Duratracs. Plus my 2.5" lift that I am sure doesnt help mpgs. I would like to see it in the 16-17mpg area but guess my commute kills gas. I was seeing 10-11mpgs on my previous Ram 2500 with more highway use.:(

If your situation is totally unacceptable, what kind of deal can you get in an exchange? Perhaps for an equivalently used 6? I'd ask my dealer just to find out what they'd be able to do to help.

Another alternative to a (possibly costly) exchange is to adapt to what you already have. It's actually fun making the best of an underpowered vehicle. :)
