4 door pickup trucks are already butt ugly and stupid looking, so I can't see where adding even more doors would hurt anything.

This is fun. If you want a serious answer I have some people I can talk to. I’ve been friends with a guy that does paint and body work and we’ve built/worked on some cars together. He used to be involved with building 6-door Fords many years ago through a Ford dealership he worked at for many years, before he moved on to regional management of chain bodyshops. As I recall, much of it had to do with how the frame and body was, in addition to the captains chairs and door shape making it practical on that specific platform. The fact that a google search for “Tacoma limo” yields no real results tells me likely impractical. There’s Tundra limos though, so maybe the Tundra frame and body has more going for it. I’m sure he could give me a serious answer. Regardless, anything is possible with enough time and money.

Take a long bed 4 door, put a short bed on it, then cut off the back of the cab and stretch it a extra foot with a extended cab section. Put the rear bench on a slider so you can push it all the way back for maximum leg room, or move it to its normal spot and have actual storage space behind the rear seat.

Nothing unusual here. Just a typical full-size pickup.

Just don't open the sliding doors...

I am going out on a limb here and going to say that the whole/main reason for a 6 door truck is the added room for a bigger family, yes that is a thing.. And that is why you see full size trucks with the added doors making it a 6 door, so starting off with a mid sized truck like the Tacoma would defeat that purpose... Plus you will have a lot of extra weight, so engine size is another factor, you need an engine powerful enough to move the 6 door truck, plus whatever weight (people, luggage etc), plus towing capacity... Just my 2 cents...

    Show vehicles excluded... lol

look closer. the door track rides above the ford bed!

i suspect a major difference isn't engine power, but frame strength as well as overall gvw. extending a 1ton truck, there's still space for the extra weight in it's carrying capacity, as well as better running gear to support that capacity. there's not the same inherent capacity in the tacoma without changing axles, and further frame supports, which make it weigh more and cost more to build than starting with a better/beefier platform.

I think the only way you’re going to get the middle door to look right on the exterior would require you to cut the back portion of the front door to weld to the front portion of back door to make a more square door that blends with the pre-existing body lines. The metal in these doors are so thin that they would take some meticulously careful welding not to warp them, and the rear glass, rear door card and guts should all still fit. That’s a lot of work.

This should be a stock option. Toyota already has the longer wheel base and a short bed. Just out the short bed on the longer frame and make essentially the equivalent to Ram’s Megacab and have an actual comfortable backseat on a Tacoma.
