    hahahaha!!!!!
seem like too many ducks around and even more that know where the pond is!

all jokes aside though…. MTs are much more simple therefore less chances of failure vs ATs

i like my manual but the auto obviously got all the attention in design. it is a fantastic transmission. the manual is kinda meh but i like bangin through gears. i also enjoy that the manual really shows off the 1gr's low end. you can seriously drive it like this:

brap, brap, brap, braap, braaap, braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww.

and extra cool points for the awesome first gear wine. i hope mines not the only one that does it

I was in the same position you are in, or was in, a few years ago. I was going to go with a bigger cab toyota since my wife was expecting. I thought about the taco but I saw a good deal on an 06 double cab tundra and thought hey more power and about the same fuel mileage, why not. Of course it was an automatic and I actually felt kind of relieved to stop driving my straight shift, since thats all I had ever owned. After I owned the tundra for about 1 year I started to miss that feeling of having control over a vehicle like you get with a straight shift. I hated it downshifting on uphills. I would think man if this were a straight shift I could cruise right up this hill in high gear. So I really missed having my old 5 speeds. What finally got me to sell the tundra was the gas mileage. I could not get over 14.0 miles to the gallon no matter how hard I tried, and I blame most of it to the automatic, and the rest to the V8, and maybe some to my foot lol.

Now I'm sure the tacos with the automatic are good on gas from what I've read but I chose to look for the 6 speed regardless of what I read about them. I finally found a double cab 6 speed trd 4x4 for a good price and drove from southern Ky to Philly, PA to get it. I drove my cousins honda civic up to look at it(40.5 mpg) and towed it home on a u-haul with the taco and I checked every tank for mileage and consistently got 17 mpg pulling a car. Now have had the truck for about 3 months and I love it and I love my straight shift!

Sorry for the long post but my point is if you like the idea of having almost total control of your truck, be able to start it if the starter dies on you (roll it off), be able to slow down fast if your brakes fail you, and change gears when YOU want to, then don't get the automatic. You just may be sick if you go with the auto. I know I was, although it was a tundra. By the way, the best tank I've checked not pulling anything is 19.9 mpg and that's on these curvy country southern ky roads. I feel I could do better on a straight smooth road.
