So how about a brand new 2018 Toyota and took it today for its first oil change at the dealership after leaving the dealership I get about 30 miles when my truck hits passing year and turns 4000 RPMs the check engine light comes on and the power reduction goes down into limp mode. After calling the dealership and a tow truck on its way I check the oil after its first service and see that no oil has been removed only knew oil has been added and it is 3 1/2 inches above over four on the dipstick The tow truck took it back to the dealership and I now have a loaner what Damage could have occurred when I restarted it blew a lot of blue and white smoke so I am mediately shut the truck back down

I understand that sometimes the oil pan and the transmission pan (auto trans) get mixed up and the wrong oil is drained. I hope that's not the case with yours.

Are you saying the oil level was 3.5 inches over the full mark on the dipstick? If that's true, then it was way overfilled and that can cause big problems...the crankshaft can aerate the oil as it rotates, which can drop the oil pressure and can mess with the oil's ability to properly lubricate the engine which of course is bad news. Seeing as how you're still under warranty and had the service done at Toyota I'm sure you'll be taken care of. But chalk this up to yet another reason why no one does maintenance on my vehicles but me.

Yes that is exactly what I am saying the oil on the dip stick was 3 inches ABOVE over full mark

That’s what I’m thinking. Drained the transmission and overfilled the engine oil.

Not sure what it would do, everyone I know has caught the mistake early enough not to cause as much damage as you are currently describing.

There’s enough transmission fluid you’d hardly notice a few quarts missing from the pan.

Just know this sucks especially since I’ve made it my own and put over 7k in it by lift wheels tires running boards and stuff .

I hope if it was them overfilling the oil, they would throw in a free extended warranty, so if you have problems in the future.

I would venture to say they’d replace the engine before offering you a whole new truck

Likely nothing major is worn, it lost power and went into limp mode due to VVTI not commanding due to lack of oil pressure.

Document everything, make sure they make this right.

I would not accept that truck back, you dont know what other damage may show up later, its either a new truck on them,or a brand new engine and transmission in your truck.

Extended warranty would be nice free although I’ve already paid extra for the extended warranty when I bought the truck brand new
