On OBD Fusion, I did find a PID for Transmission Actual Gear Ratio. If I remember, I will try it later.

I've wondered that myself. Is it needed? No. But, with all the stupid shit they think of to add to these vehicles every year, a gear indicator wouldn't hurt.

I was driving the piss out of my buddies girlfriends Civic SI and shifted hard from 5th into 6th at redline. I hit 4th instead ... whoopsie ... the car didn't like it, good thing they broke up a month later ... the car still runs fine from what I'm told.

The OP's question is written by those who need to stay away from manuals.

I've never had an issue knowing what gear I'm in when driving a car. I'll admit, I've done the click up on my Triumph shifter trying to get to the 7th gear that doesn't exist. But that was just every once in a while, I always had a mental counter in my head knowing what gear I'm in on my bike. It's not that hard, even easier in a vehicle...you can just look down at the shifter.

It’s not a motorcycle .. I have never seen a manual with a gear indicator . No offense but u need to learn how to drive a stick by feel . Even on motorcycles I have never needed to look at what gear I’m in . Just takes practice and over time you will master it .

Wow guys! After all the whining about the shitty automatic transmission it was only a matter of time until this thread

The WRX has it, and I believe the other thread the OP started that got nuked mentioned that's what he came from.

That doesn't make it right, just saying. As a former OTR semi driver with 18 gears and only 300rpm difference between each gear it still wasn't an issue.

Starting threads to get post count up to sell something. Things started getting dicey and a couple heavy hitters weren't having it.

PS it was another "we need a Jeep wave" thread. He was doomed.

Yeah. It'd be even better if everyone got a post.
