Forgot to update this, but there's not much to say. On the day of the appointment I had a work-related emergency and couldn't keep the appointment. The dealer still didn't want to order the part without "checking my vin," so I didn't bother to re-schedule. It hasn't happened since that day, and now that I know the fix, I think it would be easy enough to replace the $10 part if it becomes a problem.

I have noticed a sluggish clutch return in cold temps, but I don't think that's anything new or Tacoma-specific. Clutching and shifting my 6-speed mustang on cold mornings around here was like stirring molasses.

I'm still loving the truck, and don't regret buying it. It's been great in the snow. I do plan to get rid of the stupid Entune "Premium" at some point. It shuts off randomly, plays nanny too much, and is way too slow with siri eyes free. It's the only really annoying part of the truck at this point.

It's a rare part for them to have on hand. Dealer I went to for the TSB also had to order the part, but they didn't hassle over reproducing once the truck was in the garage.

My service tech was great. I had already taken the truck in once for it to be looked at for clutch smell and getting stuck in gear. Clutch looked fine to them (I am pretty sure someone glazed it during a test drive or loading, but we will find out) and they didn't focus on the note I made about shifting. When I found this TSB (thanks to TW), I called them up before my 5K service and he ordered the parts right up since I had been in once before (and was also spending $2000 for wheels and tires).
