There are remote starts out there designed to be used with a manual. It's a bit of a process, but it's worth it to some. Can't remember the brand off the top of my head though

How many in here have had the throwout bearing issue and what route did you go? PDM makes a sleeve kit and so does URD. URD also makes a fix-u hydro bearing kit. Wondering if anyone has gone that route? Trying to decide the best option..

You know that button that says clutch start cancel? The purpose of that is so if you stop in a precarious position where you can not roll back on a rock or whatever, you can turn the truck off, leave it in first gear hit that button and crank the starter to move the truck forward and fire it back up to keep going

I've been wanting one too, but just haven't found a good shop to put it in!

You've got to park the truck
Push a button on the fob
It stays running while everyone gets out.
Once everyone is out and the doors are locked, it shuts off.

If anyone opens any door, it won't start the next time because it doesn't know if someone knocked it in gear or not.

It sounds like a pain, but it's worth it so you don't risk accidentally leaving it in gear and trying to start it.

Just to add a little more back story. Way, way back cars didn't have a clutch defeat, you could start them in gear since it was left up to the operator remember to either be in neutral or have the clutch pushed in. When they added a switch to the starter circuit to prevent that Toyota added the Clutch Start Cancel button because it's super valuable off road to be able to do what @gainman describes. You crank the starter with the truck in gear to prevent yourself from rolling backwards if you stall on an obstacle.

It's probably all the marginally to fully crappy cars I've owned in the past but I never trust my parking brake 100% and it would be a major habit change to not park in 1st or reverse.

Plus, in seriousness, I often don't use the parking brake at all in the winter parking on flat ground. I once had my rear brake shoes freeze up solid to the drums and I had pound on them with a rubber mallet while warming them with a torch to get it to move. Of course that's something that probably wouldn't be a problem down your way. ;-)

Yeah, I ALWAYS park in first. It's just habit to pull into a parking spot and shut the truck off, still in gear.

To add to THAT, in the early 1980s (sorry for dating myself) motorcycles could also be started in gear. All at once there was a switch on the clutch to stop that AND a switch on the kickstand so dumbasses could not start their bike down the street with the kickstand down.

Darwin must be getting board with all these laws to protect us from ourselves.

I had mine fixed through my certified warranty last year at 75k miles...so far so good...i'll definitely get the URD kit if it screws up again.

My clutch pedal feels gritty when i push it down and it's annoying, i think the bad TOB scuff up the shaft it slides on...the URD kit fixes that too i believe. I didn't realize Toyota wouldn't fix that when they replaced the TOB.

56k and no TOB issues yet. Squeeky clutch pedal was fixed at 7k during the first summer of ownership (occurs with heat), now it's the third summer and it's gradually coming back after the truck sits out in the sun at work all day. I guess the techs just greased it up back in the day? I'll look at it when it annoys me enough.

So that happened on my '15, and they fixed it under TSB. It happened again and I just had it fixed yesterday. Has to do with greasing the slave cylinder he said.

I burned my clutch out in about 6k miles (supercharged) and just got a new clutch/flywheel/throw out bearing from URD installed...at 13k now and zero issues

If they performed the TSB, then they should have replaced the assembly. It doesn't matter though as the replacement squeaks too. Ask me how I know...
