My truck came with the trd short throw. I hated it. Took it off and returned it to stock. So much better

I'm rocking the Hurst Core Shifter with Hurst T handle. Love it.

I wanted a T handle, like I had in my 7u Blazer, but my wife wanted nothing to do with that. She did request a stock leather shift knob, that I got for her. I was amazed how nicer the leather one was over the plastic one.

Yep. First time they replaced the entire assembly outlined in the TSB. This time (different dealer) they just greased it up. If it starts squeaking again, I'm going to have them replace the whole assembly again. The squeaking is really annoying.

I don't think my "gritty" feeling has to due with the slave cyl...it gets grittier when the rpms are up, like if i rev and push the clutch i can feel it more.

Oh, gotcha. My gritty/squeaky feeling was mainly when I was constantly pushing the clutch in, like in traffic. It was completely independent of whether or not it was in gear too.

Do you hear any change in the sound? That seems like a failing throw out to me or maybe the pilot bearing wobbling. Probably something rotating anyway, maybe the fiction lining is rough or worn down to the rivets or the pressure plate has a broken spring or finger.

it was like this before the throw out was replaced last year, and isn't any better after the replacement. no mention of any issues when toyota replaced the tob. i have read the quill gets rough spots from a failing tob and the URD kit is supposed to fix it, otherwise the bell housing has to be replaced.

    from URDs page

    "
    THE CAUSE:
In the operation of the clutch, the release or throw-out bearing slides on the clutch snout or quill, allowing you to engage and dis-engage the clutch mechanism. Due to various reasons the quill becomes grooved over time. If the quill were made of a harder metal than aluminum, this would not be as common. The most common causes are: improper clutch adjustment, defective clutch assemblies, stop & go traffic, keeping your foot on the clutch (commonly referred to as riding the clutch), loss of lubricant, heat, & etc."

    TRD Quickshifter here.

I recently put the TRD in because I didn't like the stock shifter's long throw. Not too many miles on it yet but, ironically, I'm much happier with the TRD than stock.

What didn't you like about yours?

It was tight and notchy which is usually and acceptable tradeoff in a sporty car to be able to shift fast. Well this is a slow truck shifting fast is not going to happen so dealing with the notchy clicking of the shifter was terrible.

I like the smooth light throw of the stock one on a truck.

I'm with you on preferring a smooth throw in my truck, but I don't find my TRD notchy at all. All gears, except reverse, feel about the same as stock, but with a shorter throw. Admittedly, it's a little harder going into reverse, but that feels like a tighter spring more than notchiness.

    Different strokes, I suppose...

Nah, it's tight and snaps into gear, almost click. Majority of people on here explain is as a click.

Any of you guys have or notice drivetrain lash? My '13 has a lot of play in the drivetrain where it'll bang a little if I let off the go pedal and then hit it again. There's also a metallic clunk going over bumps with the clutch in. Lots of rotational play in the driveshaft TC yoke along with some side to side. Been to the dealer several times with the first being a few days after I got it (new). Of course it was no defect found... I've never seen this much lash in a drivetrain and I used to be a mechanic a number of years ago.

I love my TRD shifter. I have always shifted as fast as I can/want, even though most people say that these trucks like to be shifted slowly. I've never had a problem slamming through the gears....yet.
